A. Closed to Wan - Nothing stirs Toph's blood like a good training session . . . especially if she's the one doing the training. Wan will find her shortly after dawn in the clearing where she first found him out, camped out and waiting for him. He'd better not be late; Sifu Toph will not approve. More than that . . . she'll come get him.

B. Closed to Bolin - Bolin can probably catch Yin as she's leaving the arena, slipping out into the darkness. She hasn't been around the arena too much lately, so this is a first in a while. With spirits and portals and bending losses, there have been a few other demands on her time.

C. OTA, Backdated - You can find Yin helping out the construction process, but chances are she's showing off a bit -- both because it feels good and because she otherwise gets annoyed with the pace the others are working at. At first she only does it when she knows no one is paying attention, but it escalates easily as she raises and moves whole walls on her own. Totally showing off, probably drawing more attention than she should.

D. OTA, Backdated - The gold, inevitably, attracted a few members of different Triads in the city. It's free cash, after all, just lying there for anyone to take. At one interval in particular, a few members of one of the more well-known Triads try to do something more drastic, driving people off from the coins to claim the area for themselves. If gold keeps appearing, they're certainly going to try to claim the source of it.

It's not really about the social justice . . . that's not really Toph's bent. It's more the fact that the Triads are big guys who believe they're big . . . and Toph can't stand much more ego than her own. She can be found hiding out on the perimeter of the territory the Triad has set up, waiting for the right moment.

E. Closed to Zuko, Wan, and possibly Kiyi - There's a plot afoot. Under the cover of night, two figures slip through the Fire Nation portal, find an appropriate spot, and begin to earthbend a Secret Tunnel(TM) under the Fire Nation palace. They seem to know exactly where to go, making quick, efficient work of it, guided almost as though by a beacon towards the room of the young, sleeping Fire Lord.

"Should be up a couple staircases and down the hall from here." The voice is Toph's just before she breaks the last crust into an unused conference room. "Give it a minute, okay -- there's someone going past the door."

F. Choose your own adventure! Talk to me.

[It has (probably) been said that Asami Sato is incapable of anything less than perfect dignity and poise. She lives up to this, as she settles at the gazebo on Air Temple Island, followed by a small army of turtleducks. She's not so great with kids, but this, she can manage. She's on her way home from the office, and there are some items of potential interest laid off to the side where she's seated. Namely, preliminary blueprints for the reconstruction of the city roads. They have to work around the spirits somehow.]

a) [If you stop by, you could find her gently patting their heads and feeding them breadcrumbs.]

b) [There are moments, however, when she is, indeed, not a beautiful, prissy, elegant rich girl.]

AAAaaAAHH-

[Dangling from her hair, in that spot she just can't reach, (you know the one, Varrick) is a turtleduck who got a little too excited about feeding time. And she could really use some help with it, right about now. Or, you could sit back and enjoy the resulting dance as she tries NOT to panic.

Spoilers, she's kind of panicking.]

It wasn't unlike Kiyi to wake up before most of the other occupants of the Palace, but while most mornings a servant or two would be at her side immediately, they were otherwise preoccupied for the time being.

Her feet tapped lightly at the floor as she left her bed and made for the door, her brows furrowed at the strange sounds coming from its opposite side and her brother's turtleducklett pecking at the door (because, of course, Littler Zuko had his own place in the palace).

When the door was opened, she was even more glad for the ducklett's ribbon around its neck.

It would make it a lot easier to find him amidst the thousands that had somehow appeared throughout her new home.

Positively beaming, the girl laughed and ran for her older brother's room, sending tiny yellow feathers flying as the turtleducks squawked and dove from her path.

"Zuko! Zuko, Zuko, Zukoooooo!!!!!!"

((The palace is full of turtleducks! :D Come play with Kiyi's new friends!))

[Once Korra and Jinora return from the South Pole, spirits a little dampened by their findings (no pun intended), Korra remembers that she has a certain promise to keep. Unfortunately, things get a little hectic as she reports the bad news--Katara and her parents all missing from the Southern Water Tribe, the presence of other barriers around the South Pole--though she'd spoken to Bumi over the radio already. It takes a few days for things to settle down again, and it's only then that Korra goes looking for Jin.

She hands the note ("Come by Air Temple in the next few days!") to Wan, hoping it'll reach the right hands. After that, all she can do is wait for Jin to find her way here.]

Since Duo was one of those who found themselves loaded up with gold, he was putting it to good use. Hiding most of it for later, he purchased as many loaves of bread that he could fit in his bag from one of the few shops still letting people who were less than local shop (even if he had a feeling it was day-old, not fresh), and now walked around the poorer neighborhood handing out rough meat and cheese sandwiches to those who looked hungry, or he'd seen working around the city too.

"Oi! Hungry?"

[A - Avatar Korra Park]

[Mia is standing beside the small lake inside Avatar Korra Park, just within view of a concrete base that is being constructed for a future statue.  Mia has her staff in one hand and has her other hand outstretched, commanding a pair of tendrils of water from the lake upward and around her.  She's practising her waterbending obviously, and more or less she's oblivious to the world.  In fact, more than half the time, her eyes are closed as she's so intently focused upon the water.  The tendrils of water break free from the lake and swirl around her in a double helix, ebbing and flowing slowly as they rotate around her.

[She remains completely silent, listening to the waves and only every now and again peeking with one eye to ensure that she hasn't lost her touch.

[And she won't... unless she somehow gets interrupted.]

[B - Spirit Wilds]

[It's a bright and sunny day outside, and in the Spirit Wilds that means that greenish light is trickling down from the thick canopy overhead.  Mia is on the hunt for spirits in hopes of learning something more about them beyond that which she's been taught by her own mentors at the North Pole.  And certainly it seems like it since there are so many more spirits here than at the North Pole.  In her hands are a small sketchbook and a quill with a small pot of ink.

[Every once in a while, she sits down and begins to make a sketch of one of the spirits she sees.  She might also be caught chatting with one of the more outgoing and friendly spirits as well, though the conversation will border more on the level of small talk:  "You're a cute one, aren't you?  My name's Mia.  Can you talk; do you have a name?"]

[C - Teahouse]

[Mia is sitting in a teahouse in one of the nicer districts of the city.  She's at a table that fits four, though she happens to be the only one at it; she doesn't feel too bad because the teahouse is empty enough for her not to feel like she's taking up too much room.  There's a pot and a cup of hot green tea before her, and she's going through the newspaper, reading all of the headlines.  She definitely seems like she's looking for some news somewhere, but every page turn seems like it's just being met with zero luck.  She takes a sip of tea every once in a while before finally folding up the newspaper and laying it on the table.  She sighs dejectedly and rests her head on her hands, propped up by her shoulders.]

Another day without any luck.  It's as if he completely disappeared...

[D - Choose your own adventure!]

There is Republic City all around you.  A wild Mia appears and blocks your path! On the ground you see a cute koalaotter, a newspaper, a load-bearing flask, and other things that you can't pick up.

You can go North, Southish, or Dennis.

Things are getting bad, and fast. Yuri had been kicked out of his apartment upon being dubbed a foreigner. He hasn't been here for a year, in fact, he moved here close to the time people from other worlds showed up, Being the poor citizen he is, Yuri can't even prove he was a resident of Ba Sing Se beforehand either. Not that it would really matter if he could. Its not looking good for him, that's for sure. Homeless and unable to buy most things that he needs, even though he has plenty of money, he's got no choice but to spend most of his time at work. Which means Varrick's boat. He's not exactly happy about it, but there could be worse things.

Having heard about the gold appearing at city hall, Yuri's curiosity drove him to take a look. What he saw disgusted him. That evening the gold appeared as people said it did, and he just stands by and watches as people scramble for it. He doesn't need the stuff, and even if he did, what good would it be? Being labeled a foreigner, the gold would just give him more trouble than it was worth. Thus he just leans against the wall of a building and watches, Repede sitting next to him and huffing his disapproval as people scramble for the glittering stuff. And they say dogs are animals. Though the mysterious word that's appeared with the gold hasn't gone unnoticed. Though all he can do is speculate about it.

"Tch." Eventually Yuri gets tired of watching this and turns to go, but then something else catches his eye as it appears nearby. What appears to be a large, glittering gem. It's huge actually, for a jewel anyway. The crystal is several inches long and wide enough to be held with two hands. It's color is a light blue. Yuri stares at it for several moments. He feels like he's seen it before. But that's crazy... right? But the nagging feeling won't leave him alone. He moves towards it, but someone else swoops in and snatches it.

"Hey!" Yuri shouts at the man as he tries to flee with the stone. Repede leaps into action, putting himself in the man's path and growls menacingly. This gets the looter to pause, staring nervously at the dog. Repede barks and snaps his jaws, causing the man to back up into Yuri who looks down at him imposingly. The small man squeaks and drops the stone. "Don't hurt me!" And with that, he runs off. ... Well. That wasn't too hard. Stooping down, Yuri picks up the crystal and looks it over.

Later, Yuri takes the crystal back to Varrick's boat. He's already had several people try to snatch it from him. It would be safer to keep it there.

((OOC: Feel free to approach or run into Yuri at any point here! Or even on his way back to Varrick's boat.))

While camping considerably close to City Hall to make sure they were around for all that gold snatching, Nabooru and her girls have started a contained campfire to ward off against the cold. They're mostly all sitting around chatting amongst themselves, laughing more often than not. One of them probably waves to you, beckoning you over with a sweet smile. Why not share the warmth? Nabooru herself seems to be dealing with another girl who is handing her a new winter cloak with their recognizable patterns down the back. For those that have ever traveled by desert or have come from the Earth Kingdom, they might be somewhat recognizable as the symbols of a well known band of thieves.

Getting close enough, Nabooru herself will take notice. "Go on and sit. The fire's free. The food isn't." They seemed to be cooking something that smelled decently pleasant.

[2]
On one of the nights the gold starts appearing at City Hall, Nabooru is ready to fly into action. With the ease of her thieving skills, she will manage to gather quite more than her fair share. She doesn't fight fair, either, using her bending abilities like nobody's business. If shifting a bunch of earth underneath someone to get an advantage is necessary, she will do it. And when she's settled on that her pockets are just full enough, she'll be taking off! Watching her back to make sure no one is following her, however, doesn't leave her eyes set so forward. A rookie mistake. Honestly, she's better than that. But eventually that is bound to get her in trouble, running right into another body, sending the gold filling her pockets clattering with a jaunty jingle straight to the ground. "Hey!" Because clearly, that was your fault, wasn't it?

[3]
The only thing Nabooru likes better than stealing is reading. She loves getting lost in fantasy worlds like no other. And so she's taken to visiting one of the ritzier book shops in the better part of town. Their books didn't have highlights and tons of earmarks or cracked spines. She wanted her books to be hers ... regardless of if they were cheesy romance novels or not. But as she's never gotten herself truly documented since skipping from the desert, on this particular trip she gets thrown out- but not before making a ton of noise. No one can deny her her books! ....but that's exactly what's happening.

((First and second are pretty self explanatory (though for the first if you want to recognize the Gerudo as the thieving band of possible murderers who once roamed the deserts outside the Earth Kingdom that's fine too!), the third you can catch her in the middle of fighting with the clerk about how ridiculous the ID thing is or right after she gets thrown out of the store and the doors shut in her face. Anything goes! All are welcome.))

[Connor arrived in Republic City a day ago, so while he isn't as clueless as he was when he first arrived, he's still at something of a loss. Things are so different in this time: the satomobiles and airships still make him jumpy, and the sheer amount of people in the city are overwhelming. So far Varrick had shown him kindness by helping him, but Connor didn't want to rely on a fellow tribesman's generosity for too long, no matter how wealthy they happened to be.

So, even though he's still very much unfamiliar with the city, he's looking for a job when construction listings advertised catch his eye in a window.]

"Must be good at working with heights"... [He turns and cranes his head at the dizzyingly high skyscrapers, considering. Even with his climbing abilities, these were higher than anything he'd ever scaled.] Perhaps it could be a worthwhile challenge.

I.
After eventually finding his way to Dragonflats and managing to secure a place to stay, Jackie put away his few belongings and decided to go out and see more of this massive new city that was now his home. He made sure to make note of his address in case he got lost finding his way back and had to ask directions.

As he moved through some of the nicer areas of the city, buildings used by government officials and other impressive feats of architecture and ingenuity, Jackie had the wide eyed, gawking stare of a tourist. Before coming to Republic City, he mostly saw buildings that were two stories tall. He even saw the occasional one with three stories but nothing as grand or as breathtaking as what he saw now.

With his preoccupation with his sightseeing, he's far more likely to run into someone or stop dead in the middle of a busy sidewalk. In either case, he'll respond by apologizing profusely.

II.
"Excuse me! Oops! Sorry! Oh, sorry again!"

Jackie's running along the sidewalk as quickly as he can all while dipping, ducking, jumping and otherwise trying to avoid running into people and things as much as possible. When he'd seen the message appearing in the newspaper about jobs, he knew he had to get to the city council office as soon as possible. The message hadn't really had a lot of information but that much was clear. Hopefully, all the good jobs wouldn't be gone before he arrived out of breath.

[He'll be arriving before the actual start of the event.]

[The scenery of Republic City reminded him of what he would call home, with a few notions that things are a bit older than what he knows. While the buildings are pretty tall, reminding him of a certain metropolis he had always wanted to visit, but there is something off about their design. It seems that there is a strong Asian influence at hand. That, and most signs are in a language that...is probably Chinese, or some amalgamation close to it.

Luckily, Zechs manages to stand out of the way of the passing crowd to just take in everything. He tries not to look too bewildered, but how can he not be, when last he remembers is being on a space shuttle to Mars? The thought of being transported to another place without his knowing disturbs him greatly. Did someone sneak into the shuttle without their knowledge and drug them? Surely, he would have noticed something off, or reacted. Where was Noin, then?

He crosses his arms, looking contemplative, but probably quire frustrated.]

(ooc: Zechs will just be standing on the sidewalk in the city, looking pretty out of place.)

[Dick Gumshoe, a local earthbending police detective who wishes he was a metalbending cop but is perpetually down on his luck. The good detective can be found at a few locales throughout the city.

A. Sitting on the steps of city hall during a lunch break. He'll be eating from a dinky container of Flameo Instant noodles while also dabbling at a sketchbook. The sketches are far from professional, but they seem to be reflecting some kind of badgermole-like creature.

B. By the police station! He'll mostly be there to do business... or just chat up everyone in the area and look for cases to latch onto. And if someone doesn't seem to belong there, he may pop over to see if they need to be questioned. He may also have a dog with him.

C. In an empty-ish lot within the spirit wilds, where he practices his earthbending. He's also set up a tin can on a dormant vine, and he'll make many a valiant, exaggerated effort to bend it. The result is him holding a ridiculous-looking pose while staring the can down for several minutes.]

I;
What happened to Republic City? The last thing Iroh remembers was hearing that Amon had been unbasked as a bender and had disappeared, then he had suddenly woken up in a very strange place (the Spirit World, he's almost positive it was the Spirit World - though how did he manage to get there?) and found his way here, back to Republic City. The only problem was that Republic City had changed immensely overnight - the vines everywhere are the first indication, but he's seen spirits milling around and the general feeling of the city is off somehow, though Iroh hasn't been able to pinpoint exactly why.

He was making his way toward City Hall to try to get some idea of what was going on, but Iroh has stopped to pick up a newspaper and is currently reading it, looking troubled.

The first section is troubling, but more confusing than anything else. It's the section regarding his grandfather that's causing his eyebrows to knit as he scans it. "There is supposedly a time-displaced younger Lord Zuko now installed as interim Fire Lord following Fire Lord Izumi's disappearance. Whether or not the 'young' Zuko is actually Lord Zuko's past self or a very convincing child actor, this means that Lord Zuko now has direct control of two nations. Is it possible our 'interim' President plans on having his rule be not so temporary? It is awfully convenient that his own daughter has disappeared in the same manner of President Raiko - and as we've now learned, the other world leaders of the nations and prominent cities within them - and this has allowed him to not only be voted in as the interim President of the United Republic, but to set a hand-picked puppet where his daughter used to sit."

"President Raiko...?" The name doesn't sound familiar. Since when did Republic City have a president, and why would his grandfather take over if said president had disappeared? What about Fire Lord Izumi? What had happened to her? What's going on here?

Iroh can be found puzzling over the newspaper on the side of the street. He's wearing the usual United Forces uniform (this one isn't missing a sleeve, thankfully). He looks more concerned than confused and he won't be looking up from that paper unless he's directly addressed.

II;
Once he's done with the newspaper, Iroh decides that the best thing to do is continue to City Hall. If his grandfather really is in charge right now, he can surely answer Iroh's questions. If Lord Zuko isn't in charge (or isn't in), he can at least find a phone to get in contact with the United Forces to figure out what happened.

Iroh stops dead in the street when City Hall comes into view. It certainly isn't the normal City Hall and the vines growing from it are quite impressive. Hopefully the place is still in good shape inside, because the last thing he wants is to find out that this isn't where he needs to be.

[A pool has formed in the Spirit Wilds. Probably it used to be a fountain, but seems to have been taken over by something else, the center lopped off and away. The water is absolutely clear, but also absolutely deeper than it should be; one can no longer see the bottom of it. For anyone spiritually sensitive, the place is flush with spiritual energy.]

In the center of the pool stands a figure, body almost human, but not quite. Her body is gaunt, too long, wrapped in layer upon layer of vines and roots. Her arms and hands hang far longer than any human's, tipped with claws. And her head . . . a slim neck supports a head that is many-branched like the upended roots of a tree. Between and below each branch, there is a human face, exquisitely formed but blanched of all color.]

[No eyes are visible, hidden behind loops of vines and roots, but if anyone enters the clearing, they will find that immediately she is aware of their presence.]

It had been two weeks since Lord Zuko first travelled to the Fire Nation with the others. He returned a week ago, deciding he had imparted as much information as he could give his younger self about the modern Fire Nation's state of affairs, and he had taken on new advisors that would assist the interrim Fire Lord in getting his footing. Uncle Iroh was there to support the younger Zuko, too, he'd left Druk behind to protect the palace from any would-be opportunists, and even Avatar Wan had offered his help joining the search parties in finding Izumi.

In short, Lord Zuko had done everything he felt he could at this time to keep the Fire Nation stable, and his duties to Republic City beckoned again, forcing him to return. The unrest in the city of late had to be addressed. Early this particular morning, however, while he was preparing for a meeting at City Hall, Zuko did not expect a page to rush in with a message there was a dragon outside the building. He hurried outside, and sure enough, there was Druk, waiting patiently.

"Druk? I asked you to stay in the Fire Nation, old friend." Zuko approached his dragon companion, resting a hand on his broad muzzle. "Why did you come back?"

Druk simply stared at him and gave a low rumble. His appearance here worried Zuko. If something had happened in the Fire Nation that would make Druk seek him out, or if there was something wrong with the portal, he needed to investigate right away.

[ooc: feel free to use this as a catchall if you want to thread out your character being dragged back from the Fire Nation after the two-week mark! THANKS SPIRIT WORLD.]

What: See the Title
Where: Fire Nation!
When: Any time you're in the Fire Nation during November (following the portal opening)

The Portal between Air Temple Island and the Fire Nation comes out directly into the Royal Plaza. Security has been set up around the portal, metal walls several feet out with a few windows (so the military could make sure those traveling between the locations were not threats) blocked easy access to the rest of the Plaza. Those people who didn't have what was considered a good reason to visit the Palace were allowed to visit the city located outside the Caldera, while actual guests of the Royal family were escorted to pre-prepared rooms or small villas on the palace grounds.

Things would likely change in the future, but for the first couple weeks following the opening of the portal, if you came through the portal, you probably had a better reason for being there than 'it seemed like fun'.

Unless your name was Kiyi or Wan or Toph or Aang or- You know what? 'it seemed like fun' was probably a perfectly fine reason.

ooc: This is a catch all for anyone who wants to do general threads in the Fire Nation. Tag in, tag around, have fun.
