It was a bright and sunny normal day in Republic City. Children were playing, spirits were chirping about, and everything was going along like normal. Well at least that's what everyone seemed to think. That is until so many people seemed to be appearing out of nowhere. For some reason Republic City seemed to be more lively and the crowds bigger.

The spirits have grown restless as if something important was about to change, and to try to fix that change, the spirits with their big long tree like limbs dragged people into the world left and right. Even the vines covering Republic City seemed to help. Although the spirits had the best intentions in mind, some people were more affected by the grab than others. There's talk that people in this city don't even know what this place is. People who have never heard of the words "bender" or "non-bender."

Welcome to Republic City! And to those who already live here: Happy Saturday. Please make yourselves at home and don't mind a little spirit gunk. It's mostly harmless. Go enjoy yourself a classic mover. Maybe you're the athletic type. If that's the case, come watch a few Pro-bending matches or form your own team. Just watch out for any Satomobiles. They can be deadly no matter how pretty the driver is.

Please remember to enjoy your stay and don't cause too much trouble. The Republic City Police don't need more riffraff to take care of. And don't stray too far. To make the the peace is kept, there's a huge spirit barrier around the perimeter of the city. It seems pretty strong, but it won't be able to last forever. Still, it's worrying. Radio signals and telegraphs don't seem to be getting past it.

[Though Air Temple Island is now being inhabited by all of the airbenders, meaning that Bolin's long-standing invitation to stay with Tenzin and family has gotten regrettably thrown out the window with the sudden influx in occupants, he's certainly over at the island often enough, though usually it's to see if Korra is there... or to see if Opal actually has a day off every now and again... which is not often.

[Nevertheless, as he is on his way across the island, Bolin sees a bald-headed kid with airbending arrow tattoos playing with little sky bison and lemurs.

[How adorably cute. Bolin has to come say hello!]

Jinora! [Because who else could it possibly be? Aang, prepare for a great big Bolin hug.]

[Not to mention that both Appa and Momo are in the mix, even more invigorating than Aang to see their own kind once again.

Aang had just set down a baby bison and welcomed a reprieve to the cuddle-fest when he heard the voice calling out. He slowly turned towards the strange man-]

Wha-?

[-And found himself scooped into such a gigantic hug. He tries to speak while muffled against Bolin's chest. Only some of his words make it to the audible phase.]

No - not Jinora! She's - granddaughter!

[Bolin doesn't let go until Aang manages to get out the word "granddaughter." Suddenly, there's a horrified look of anagnorisis and lets him go almost immediately, though Bolin doesn't back up quite yet. The gears are still churning just a little bit. He looks off to the distance to ponder that.]

But Jinora's grandfather... would be Tenzin's dad... and that would be Avatar Aang. But he's been dead for almost 19 years no—

[And that's when he happens to see the rather obvious facsimile of Aang on Avatar Aang Memorial Island, and Bolin's jaw hangs down. He points to the statue... and looks back and points to Aang.

[And somewhere in that process, there's practically a ridiculously high squeak.]

Aaaaaavaaaataaaar Aaaaaaaang? [His voice is practically trembling. He's not sure if this is a ghost or the real thing, but it's not like his reaction would be different either way.]

[Oh wait he gave himself away, didn't he. Aang takes a moment to breathe when he's released, then he looks around frantically.]

Avatar? What Avatar? I don't see any Avatar near here! Nope, this looks like an Avatar-free area alright!

[Let's be honest; it's pretty easy to pull a fast one over Bolin, but it's going to take a little more than that to fool Bolin.

[He will look a little suspicious at Aang's attempts to deflect the accusation, but for the most part Bolin is still in complete fanboy shock.]

But you look... just... like him! [Bolin's is still in awe, and his voice remains high.] I don't think I've ever seen any impersonator look quite as good! Especially the tattoos! Even the Air Acolytes aren't allowed to have those...

[Now he makes some nervous attempts to scratch at his head.]

It's... a big coincidence? I- I'm not trying to impersonate! And I am an airbender, just... [He shrugs meekly.] ...a fast learner?

[Bolin's having a hard time with this one. Because he's heard how long it took Jinora just to get her tattoos, and that was the only tattoo ceremony the airbenders have had that he knew about it.]

You must have really impressed Tenzin if that's the case! Especially since he didn't tell Korra or the rest of us that there was going to be another tattooing ceremony.

I... really did impress him! Are you sure? Maybe your invitation just got lost in the mail. It- it was... all the way back home! On Kangaroo Island!

Clearly, the writers for got to name it after a hybrid animal.

[Bolin is totally going to argue this until the hippo cows come home. The only way Aang is getting out of this one is if he makes a run for it.]

Look, no no no, Tenzin and I have been traveling to find all of the airbenders across the world over the last few months! I helped save Tenzin and the others just a few weeks ago. He's been here ever since!

[Technically, he hasn't watched every single move of Tenzin since coming back, so it's theoretically possible that they went to Kangaroo Island—wherever that is—to grant someone else his arrows. But seriously, Tenzin would've made such the big deal out of it.]

Okay, well if you're not Avatar Aang, then who are you?

[For a moment, Bolin looks like a child that was giddy and smug as possible after finally winning an argument. He points enthusiastically as his mouth opens wide.]

[—only to become immediately crestfallen as Aang throws a spanner in the works. He's got... no counter to that.]

Really? Three A's? [He sighs dejectedly, almost looking completely disappointed.] Did your parents name you after the Avatar and then just misspell your name after they had you?

No no! It's... a cultural thing? The first A is silent!

[Bolin just stares at Aaang at that one, a little mortified.]

... That has got to be the worst spelling rule ever! Why not add a few more A's for good measure?

Because that would just be silly? [He meekly notions.]

[Bolin goes down for the count. He is defeated.]

Good point.

Alright, so you're not Aang. Even if you look like him. Really like him.

I... I get that a lot. [Still, he hesitates as he reflects on Bolin's words.]

You know Tenzin and Korra well?

[His frustration over Aang's identity is momentarily forgotten as a new direction comes into focus.]

I do! I mean, I've known them for the past two years or so? It's like we've been friends forever ever since we've met though. [Okay, that's probably a slight exaggeration, but it's Bolin describing friendship.] Korra was even on my brother's and my pro-bending team two years ago, and together the three of us helped fight Amon and the Equalists who were trying to take everyone's bending away. And then last year we fought Unalaq together. And my brother, Asami, and I rescued Tenzin after the Air Nation was kidnapped by Zaheer.

Yeah, you could say we're pretty tight.

[His eyes widen.]

You... you rescued Tenzin? [Korra had told him about the threat to the air nation. To the man who would be his son. Hearing about that on top of having confirmation that he was a close friend of Korra...

Aang ran forward to give the earthbender a genuine hug.]

Thank you so much! I- I really am the Avatar, but don't tell anyone!

[The hug takes Bolin by surprise. After all, this is exactly how it had started, with a completely awkward hug that one of the two did not see coming at all. Well, at least until Aang admits his secret.

[Silly Avatar; Bolin is not the one to entrust with secrets, but he will certainly try very hard to keep them, though he will probably tell all his friends about it.]

I knew it! [Well technically he did at least. Anyway, Bolin clasps both shoulders of the airbender with his hands.] Though... it's weird knowing that there are multiple Avatars around but...

Oh man, Tenzin is going to freak out when he realizes his dad is here! ... Not to mention that his dad is... a teenager...

[This time it was an earned hug! Bolin saved the family he doesn't even know. So he smiles.]

It is weird, but it's happening. And... it's gotta stay a secret. Right?

But if you see that Tenzin guy... I would like to try and meet him. But we haven't been able to find him around here yet.

You've got it. My lips are absolutely sealed. No one's going to hear about any of this from me.

[Really. Really really.]

I'll make sure to tell him if I see him. Though come to think of it, I really haven't seen him in a little while. Then again, he's usually out training the airbenders, and I haven't gotten the chance to see them or Opal any time recently, so......

I hope he's okay... Opal. I did meet her earlier! So maybe Tenzin is somewhere.
