It was a bright and sunny normal day in Republic City. Children were playing, spirits were chirping about, and everything was going along like normal. Well at least that's what everyone seemed to think. That is until so many people seemed to be appearing out of nowhere. For some reason Republic City seemed to be more lively and the crowds bigger.

The spirits have grown restless as if something important was about to change, and to try to fix that change, the spirits with their big long tree like limbs dragged people into the world left and right. Even the vines covering Republic City seemed to help. Although the spirits had the best intentions in mind, some people were more affected by the grab than others. There's talk that people in this city don't even know what this place is. People who have never heard of the words "bender" or "non-bender."

Welcome to Republic City! And to those who already live here: Happy Saturday. Please make yourselves at home and don't mind a little spirit gunk. It's mostly harmless. Go enjoy yourself a classic mover. Maybe you're the athletic type. If that's the case, come watch a few Pro-bending matches or form your own team. Just watch out for any Satomobiles. They can be deadly no matter how pretty the driver is.

Please remember to enjoy your stay and don't cause too much trouble. The Republic City Police don't need more riffraff to take care of. And don't stray too far. To make the the peace is kept, there's a huge spirit barrier around the perimeter of the city. It seems pretty strong, but it won't be able to last forever. Still, it's worrying. Radio signals and telegraphs don't seem to be getting past it.

[He looks over carefully, nodding along as she points everything out.]

Mm-hmm mm-hmm... Thanks! Um... and, is Air Temple Island anywhere on this map?

It's at the center of Yue Bay.

[She glances away from the map and points generally southwest.]

There's a ferry that runs to and fro every day, you can find a schedule by the docks.

[There's a soft surprise at the name.]

Yue Bay? You mean like... [The princess?] the moon?

[Asami nods. Yue's an important part of history now, Aang!]

The Water Tribe princess who became the moon spirit for the sake of the waterbenders toward the end of the Hundred Year War.

[He smiles.]

I'm really glad she got honored. She... she deserves a lot. [He gets nostalgic for a moment - but then he quickly snaps back to attention.] But - right! Air Temple Island. I'm sure I'll find it in no time now!

[A bit of curiosity crosses Asami's brow at the boy's... almost personal appreciation.]

[She offers him a small parting smile. If anyone is equipped for whatever is going on, it's the airbenders.]

Thanks. [He nods with his own smile as he starts to step back.] What's your name, by the way?

[...Yup. He's new all right.]

I'm Asami.

[She holds out her hand to offer a shake.]

Nice to meet you, Asami! I really like your hair! [Just be glad he isn't asking for a sample...]

My name's Aang. [He doesn't know how to handshake. So he high-fives the hand.]

[Spirits help her, it's genetic.]

Oh- Thank you.

[She tries to keep her voice from intonating like she's asking a question. That sure was out of the blue. He's not the first person she's met with the name of Aang. There are people who name their children after Avatars, right?

But then the boy does something that is distinctly... Korra-like. Once again, she hides her surprise at the high-five and tips her head to take a better look at the boy's face.

She's driven by that statue as long as she can remember.]

Aang?

[Now he looks more nervous! Has he been found out already? How does she know him? Does her hair read minds?]

Do you know me? But... I don't know you! [He tries on his most innocent face.]

[Her brow rises even farther...]

I don't know you, no. You just...

[A small sigh.]

This is going to sound ridiculous, but you look a lot like Avatar Aang.

I do, huh? I get that a lot! [Essentially all day. He rubs at his head sheepishly.] But um I...

[Oh no. He can't lie to her. She's too pretty!]

I kind of really am him!

[The power of hair compels thee]

[Asami isn't so sure what the proper thing to do in this situation is. She knows Korra, but Korra's a personal friend.]

It's an honor to meet you, Aang.

[Which begs the question...]

I'm guessing you don't know any more about how what's happening here than I do?

[He gives a light shrug.]

Nope. I'm sorry. I don't have any idea what the meaning of this is, yet. I'm gonna do my best to find out. But... I'm trying to keep myself a secret, too.

[Asami nods, giving Aang a small reassuring smile.]

Don't worry about that, I'm not going to run and tell the presses.

[She can still remember the wreck Korra was when she first arrived in the big city.]

Really? Thank you so much! Asami, you're a real Avatar pal! [And he'll give her a quick hug to demonstrate it!]

[Asami's eyes widen when Aang suddenly goes in for the hug. If there's any doubt about him being the Avatar spirit she knows, it's gone.

Maybe friendships really do span lifetimes.]

No problem.

[She reaches around Aang to reciprocate with a light pat on the back.]

[Maybe they do! He smiles lightly before he pulls back.]

I'm glad to hear that. And thank you for the instructions, too. Maybe some time later we can go have fun!

[Go... Have fun? Sure, Korra Aang. Sure.]

I'm sure we'll be seeing each other again.

[That, Asami thinks, she can say with some certainty. And an amused smile.]

Great! I'll come look for you sometime. [He walks backwards as he waves her off.] Have fun at your motor club, and thanks again for all your help! [Then he trips over something.] Oof!

[Now some yards away, he sheepishly picks himself up and offers one last meek wave.] Bye! [And then he's gone, in a very airbendery way.]
