Welcome to Republic City!

It was a bright and sunny normal day in Republic City. Children were playing, spirits were chirping about, and everything was going along like normal. Well at least that's what everyone seemed to think. That is until so many people seemed to be appearing out of nowhere. For some reason Republic City seemed to be more lively and the crowds bigger.

The spirits have grown restless as if something important was about to change, and to try to fix that change, the spirits with their big long tree like limbs dragged people into the world left and right. Even the vines covering Republic City seemed to help. Although the spirits had the best intentions in mind, some people were more affected by the grab than others. There's talk that people in this city don't even know what this place is. People who have never heard of the words "bender" or "non-bender."

Welcome to Republic City! And to those who already live here: Happy Saturday. Please make yourselves at home and don't mind a little spirit gunk. It's mostly harmless. Go enjoy yourself a classic mover. Maybe you're the athletic type. If that's the case, come watch a few Pro-bending matches or form your own team. Just watch out for any Satomobiles. They can be deadly no matter how pretty the driver is.

Please remember to enjoy your stay and don't cause too much trouble. The Republic City Police don't need more riffraff to take care of. And don't stray too far. To make the the peace is kept, there's a huge spirit barrier around the perimeter of the city. It seems pretty strong, but it won't be able to last forever. Still, it's worrying. Radio signals and telegraphs don't seem to be getting past it.

[ OOC: The game is officially open! From this point on, feel free to make any posts you want or tag into this. Please remember to tag your posts with Canon: Character. Finally, although the game has no real network, you're free to respond with prose or brackets, whatever you're comfortable with. With that said, have fun! ]

[Her own smile is just as stupidly sappy. The oogie level is likely pretty high by this point and Opal seems to have no problem enjoying it. She doesn't much like going into the business with the Red Lotus either and so is happy to veer away from it.]

And you're very important to me too, Bolin. So let's be sure to enjoy the rest of the day.

Timebending again?

[personal profile] lavamylife 2014-11-10 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
[Oogie level over 9000!?]

Oh I will; I'm already enjoying it. [Bolin definitely has a sappy grin at hearing Opal's words, and his words have this emotionally heartfelt air. For the first time in a long time, he feels like he's on a somewhat equal footing in a relationship, and that's amazingly special. He lets her finish her noodles while he stares dreamingly at both her and this place that they've gone to.

[And after that, Bolin will guide her around the city, catching up on a few other sights that the two of them have missed—the arena, for one, the Harmony Tower, for two, and even the park that was going to be renamed after Korra as a third. Perhaps they'll stop in a store or two either for fun or, as Opal originally intended, for supplies, and Bolin will gladly offer to carry something (perhaps slightly awkwardly) as they head back to the ferry at the end of the day.]

You know, I really envy you airbending every now and then. What I wouldn't give to be able to fly over the city and see all the lights from above!

[There's also the whole ferry thing; Bolin can't just fly over the bay to the island where Opal is staying.]

Much timebending, such ferry.

[personal profile] airyopalescent 2014-11-11 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
[Opal can't help the light laugh as she slowly moves the ferry along toward Air Temple Island.]

It's not exactly flying though, you know.
lavamylife: (grinning)

[personal profile] lavamylife 2014-11-12 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
I know it's not flying flying. [He doesn't mention Zaheer at all, but he knows that that's what she's referring to, at least when it comes to actual flying.] But it's like flying! It's soaring through the air, going wherever you want to go!

Plus it means I wouldn't have to wait for the ferry to come see you?

[At least the ferry is slightly faster than swimming across.]

[personal profile] airyopalescent 2014-11-12 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
That parts true. It's pretty exciting being able to bend at all actually! Besides, being an earthbender has a lot of good points too. You can do a lot of amazing things that I can't.
lavamylife: (happy)

[personal profile] lavamylife 2014-11-14 01:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, okay, okay. You've got a point there. Earthbending is pretty great, I'll admit. And lavabending, well, I'm glad I learned that skill too. Less useful in everyday life, but good in a pinch, I guess.

But hey, I'm glad you're an airbender! I wouldn't have ever met you if it weren't for that!

[personal profile] airyopalescent 2014-11-15 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
[Aww. Opal can't help the slightly sappy grin.]

I'm glad I am too, both for that and other reasons. It's kind of nice not to be the only non-bender in the family anymore actually. And it gives me a lot more opportunity to learn and help others too.
lavamylife: (optimistic)

[personal profile] lavamylife 2014-11-16 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
That actually would be a nice thing to have too, huh? Granted, my family has tons of non-benders, but I can imagine it'd be awkward not being able to share that aspect of your life if everyone else was. [Though certainly, Bolin would not want to see what life would be like if Grandma Yin were an earthbender. That would just cause sooooo many problems.]

And that's true too, helping others? Asami convinced me to volunteer and help out providing all the refugees to Republic City with things to help them survive here, too. [Which really, helping the poor is something Bolin is all about, even if he gets to hobnob with the upper classes these days.] It feels good to be able to do that.

[personal profile] airyopalescent 2014-11-16 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
It really does, doesn't it? My mother does a lot of projects like that in Zaofu and I got to help now and then. We did a lot of others things too, like free community theater and plays, those sorts of things.

[Opal is keeping the boat at a steady lull, her hand gestures much more smooth and natural than they were even weeks ago. Practice makes perfect and moving the ferry along is perfect practice.]
lavamylife: (grinning)

[personal profile] lavamylife 2014-11-19 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, your mom really seemed like a talented lady with all of the things she was helping sponsor in the city. I mean, I'm an earthbender just like most of the people there, and I was still amazed at everything. You know, it wouldn't be a bad place to live, all in all.

[personal profile] airyopalescent 2014-11-20 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think it is but then again I'm biased.
lavamylife: (realizing)

Sorry, I shouldn't do posts at 12am. Bolin just flies out of my mouth.

[personal profile] lavamylife 2014-11-21 01:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Well I don't think you're all that biased. I mean, if you were there, I could live there quite happily. I mean, it is a little shiny when the sun reflects off of all that metal at that one time in the afternoon; it practically blinded me the first time that I wasn't expecting it. But that's nothing compared to how great everything else is!

I'd be scared if anything flew out of my mouth at midnight honestly

[personal profile] airyopalescent 2014-11-22 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
You mean around two? It's a little bit of a hassle, I admit.
lavamylife: (thoughtful)

Touché

[personal profile] lavamylife 2014-11-24 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, exactly then. But then again, I don't exactly know how living there is; I've just been there as a guest and all.

[It seems that the ferry is beginning to near Air Temple Island. Bolin grabs the rope on the side of the boat in order to help dock it on the other side.]

Accent over the e and everything. You's so fancy.

[personal profile] airyopalescent 2014-11-24 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[The ferry bumps gently into the dock as Opal lets the wind die back while Bolin secures it to the dock. She begins picking her bags back up, amusement to her tone.]

You learn to ignore it. When most of your family lives around metal almost constantly, you get used to the glare.
lavamylife: (happy)

Super fancy!

[personal profile] lavamylife 2014-11-26 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
Oh I can imagine. About the only thing I'm used to is Mako's snoring. Well, and all of the random wake-ups in the early morning when a fight broke down in the middle of the street.

[Bolin finishes securing the ferry to the dock and then helps Opal out of the boat before getting out himself.]

Well, we're here. Do you need help with your bags, Opal?

[personal profile] airyopalescent 2014-11-27 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
[OOC: This seems like a good point to wrap this up to me, yes? He can help her in with those bags and then she'll ferry him back if someone else isn't going around then.]
lavamylife: (happy)

[personal profile] lavamylife 2014-11-30 11:56 am (UTC)(link)
[OOC: Sounds good. It's easy enough to wrap up!]
