It was a bright and sunny normal day in Republic City. Children were playing, spirits were chirping about, and everything was going along like normal. Well at least that's what everyone seemed to think. That is until so many people seemed to be appearing out of nowhere. For some reason Republic City seemed to be more lively and the crowds bigger.

The spirits have grown restless as if something important was about to change, and to try to fix that change, the spirits with their big long tree like limbs dragged people into the world left and right. Even the vines covering Republic City seemed to help. Although the spirits had the best intentions in mind, some people were more affected by the grab than others. There's talk that people in this city don't even know what this place is. People who have never heard of the words "bender" or "non-bender."

Welcome to Republic City! And to those who already live here: Happy Saturday. Please make yourselves at home and don't mind a little spirit gunk. It's mostly harmless. Go enjoy yourself a classic mover. Maybe you're the athletic type. If that's the case, come watch a few Pro-bending matches or form your own team. Just watch out for any Satomobiles. They can be deadly no matter how pretty the driver is.

Please remember to enjoy your stay and don't cause too much trouble. The Republic City Police don't need more riffraff to take care of. And don't stray too far. To make the the peace is kept, there's a huge spirit barrier around the perimeter of the city. It seems pretty strong, but it won't be able to last forever. Still, it's worrying. Radio signals and telegraphs don't seem to be getting past it.

[Oh come on, you're going to start by trying to make small talk with ~~Uncle~~ Bolin before saying a greeting? Please.]

Jinora, heeeey! How's it going? [Yes, he's going to wrap the yougn airbender in an adorable hug. He holds onto her for a moment before letting go and then answering the question.] Well, I think things are going well. I mean, I've passed out a good number of fliers today. [It's not like he has that many still in his hands] Hopefully a lot of them show up to tryouts in a few days. Though hopefully not everyone; I wouldn't be able to see that many people over the whole week.

[ Hey, greetings are small talk, too! But Jinora gives a laugh and returns the hug, the poor flier getting crumpled along the way. It's hard not to get drawn into Bolin's enthusiasm. ]

Yeah, I've seen your fliers. [ She holds up her smushed one... thens lowly lowers it. Oops. ]

That's great, Bolin! Have a lot of people told you they're definitely coming?

[Well, it's not like he needs all the fliers to be in one piece. He takes the slightly crumpled flier from Jinora's lowered hand and stretches it out to unwrinkle it, even if only slightly. It doesn't really look all that better, but it's good enough for Bolin. Besides, it kind of was his fault anyway...]

And... yeah, I've gotten a few bites. So far all of them have been firebenders, so even if I find a good one, I'm still missing a waterbender, but I'm not that worried. Who wouldn't want to be on the Fire Ferrets this year, right?

[Actually, there've been a few people who remember all too well what happened during Bolin's first match last year, but hey... he was still part of the winning team. He's not giving up despite a few naysayers!]

I wish I could help. [ Because come on Bolin, who WOULDN'T want an eleven year old airbender on their pro bending team?! She nods at his declaration about the flier, though. ]

Um, right! It's perfect. These fliers just have to find you a waterbender. But just in case... do you know of any other ones?

[ Because you know what's better than an eleven year old airbender on your team? Shady Shin on your team. Just convince Korra to give his bending back and you'll get the championship in no time.]

[But she'd be an 11-year-old airbending master. That would send a few of the other teams packing!]

Yeah, it's a shame they haven't changed the rules yet now that there are a handful of airbenders around, though I can't imagine the look on Tenzin's face if half of his trainees joined teams like Korra did two years ago.

[Okay, that's worth laughing at. It would be precious.]

But... I don't really know all that many waterbenders. There's Korra, Korra's dad, uhm... and, uh, Eska and her brother.... And I guess there are some waterbenders that I technically know from... my past, buuuuut... [He's looking skyward now, clearly avoiding the details,] I don't think those would be good candidates.

[~~Seriously, Shady Shin? Bolin doesn't need anyone else's help getting himself into trouble, thank you.~~]

Maybe someday they'll add airbenders in. [ Okay so fighting like that might not be strictly airbendery but then again it was only a game... and airbenders loved games. She can't help but laugh at the image of her dad, either. ]

We'll have to make him join a team, too. [ And then that image makes her laugh as well. ]

I guess that does sound like kind of a hard list. But I'm sure a great waterbender will show up to your try-outs.

Oh man, Tenzin on a pro-bending team? [Bolin chuckles with great amusement at that.] You know, nowadays he might actually go for it... well, [and now Bolin talks in a more faux-stodgy voice,] if he can get away from the serious responsibility of training and raising the new Air Nation. Speaking of Tenzin, is he training everyone today? I still haven't figured out their training schedule, so I keep missing Opal all too often.

And yeah, I'm sure I'll find one soon enough. I just hope I don't have to rely upon that guy I chose last year. Man, that didn't work out.

He'd get too into it. [ Jinora says, and although she's still smiling she sounds quite serious. ] He's way too competitive. I'd hate to be the other team.

[ At the question she makes a thoughtful noise before shaking her head, giving him a knowing look. ] No, not a lot of training going on today. Actually, I saw Opal around the city earlier today.

Yeah, I guess he did get into pro-bending juuuuuust a little bit after he finally figured out that that was Korra's ticket to airbending.

[Though the news of Opal being in the city was perhaps the most tragic news ever.]

Ah man, Opal's not actually here? AND in the city? I made the way over here for nothing?

[Bummer. He's almost defeated, though it's not like he can't just go back over there and search for her. Though at least Air Temple Island is a small enough place, and he'd know the places to look.]

That's right. [ She remembers Korra's return to airbending training about pro-bending; the change had been amazing. ] Maybe he'll make all the new airbenders try pro bending too, to see if it helps them.

[ She can't help but feel a pang of sympathy for Bolin's defeat- she reaches out to give him what she hopes is a comforting pat on the arm. ]

Don't worry! I'm sure she'll want to try and see you, too. Maybe you can catch up later.

[Oh Jinora, you are just what the ailing Bolin asked for. His frown turns upside down with just that simple gesture.]

You know, you're right. I'm bound to find her somewhere in the city. Or worst case, there's always tomorrow!

[He'll figure out her schedule one of these days!]

Definitely [ She agrees eagerly, smiling at his renewed enthusiasm. ]

If I see her again, I'll let her know you're looking for her. Oh! [ Suddenly she lights up. ]

Maybe I can help her sneak out at night to meet you. [ Doesn't that sound romantic, Bolin?! ]

[His thanks are almost a little premature before she makes her secondary offer. But really, it just causes Bolin to blush ridiculously. Because yes, it does sound really romantic. But honestly, he still only knows Opal at something of a cursory level.]

Well, [he says as he adjusts his collar, his cheeks flushing hotly,] that would be really nice. Though only if Opal is up for some midnight rendezvous. I mean, I could always catch a late ferry here. They run pretty late at night, right?

[He has to admit that he is considering it a little bit.]
