Welcome to Republic City!

It was a bright and sunny normal day in Republic City. Children were playing, spirits were chirping about, and everything was going along like normal. Well at least that's what everyone seemed to think. That is until so many people seemed to be appearing out of nowhere. For some reason Republic City seemed to be more lively and the crowds bigger.

The spirits have grown restless as if something important was about to change, and to try to fix that change, the spirits with their big long tree like limbs dragged people into the world left and right. Even the vines covering Republic City seemed to help. Although the spirits had the best intentions in mind, some people were more affected by the grab than others. There's talk that people in this city don't even know what this place is. People who have never heard of the words "bender" or "non-bender."

Welcome to Republic City! And to those who already live here: Happy Saturday. Please make yourselves at home and don't mind a little spirit gunk. It's mostly harmless. Go enjoy yourself a classic mover. Maybe you're the athletic type. If that's the case, come watch a few Pro-bending matches or form your own team. Just watch out for any Satomobiles. They can be deadly no matter how pretty the driver is.

Please remember to enjoy your stay and don't cause too much trouble. The Republic City Police don't need more riffraff to take care of. And don't stray too far. To make the the peace is kept, there's a huge spirit barrier around the perimeter of the city. It seems pretty strong, but it won't be able to last forever. Still, it's worrying. Radio signals and telegraphs don't seem to be getting past it.

[ OOC: The game is officially open! From this point on, feel free to make any posts you want or tag into this. Please remember to tag your posts with Canon: Character. Finally, although the game has no real network, you're free to respond with prose or brackets, whatever you're comfortable with. With that said, have fun! ]

Druk rumbles his assent. Then, no sooner is Wan seated that he lifts his head and spreads his wings, taking to the air in only a few powerful beats of his wings. He doesn't need to be steered by his rider, instead following of his own accord in the direction he had last seen Mula disappear to.

Wan had never actually ridden on a dragon before, so the upward surge and the way Druk's body moved once in the air took a few moments to get used to. Once he had, Wan was holding on as easily as he normally did Mula - who took no reigns or saddle. He leaned to the side so he could see the ground and the did have to fly for a little while before he spotted his catdeer. She was seeking attention from a human dressed in the colors of the Water Tribe. And as they got closer, Wan realized it was Korra. The Avatar. His reincarnation.

Who he really wasn't sure he wanted to talk to just yet.

"Don't land!" Wan called out to Druk to try and make sure he didn't bring him to Mula. "That's un... We should go back to where we took off. I don't want to talk to that person right now. Please."

Druk had been intent on landing near Mula once he'd sighted her, so he was puzzled by the unexpected command. But he complied, flaring out his wings to slow his momentum and to turn around. Druk is difficult to miss, should Korra have happened to look up, but hopefully Wan riding him went unnoticed.

As the dragon returned to where they'd taken off by the barrier, a certain scarred old man was now waiting there patiently for the dragon's return. Lord Zuko had rarely seen Druk allow people to ride him of his own accord, so he was curious to see who it was on his companion's back, when the dragon finally landed...

Wan spotted Lord Zuko as they came in for the landing and he cringed a little. It was clear the dragon trusted the man, which meant he was probably the one that usually rode him. Once they were on the ground and Druk had put his head down right next to Zuko - where Wan had to slide off next to him - he did so with hunched shoulders and a guilty expression.

Sure, he could have just hopped a cloud to fly away, but that would have been pretty rude to the dragon that had been nice enough to let him have a ride.

He lifted a hand and gave a small wave before he straightened his shoulders and walked over to stand in front of Druk's head and give him another bow.

"Thank you, great one."

Only after that, did he finally suck it up to face the former Firelord, "Hi."

'Hi'? This man had just been riding his dragon, and all he got was a hi? Lord Zuko's surprise was evident, even moreso when he realised where he'd seen the stranger before.

"You were the one I saw outside City Hall, weren't you?" he said. Their conversation had been brief, but hadn't he asked about Raava and the Avatar? And now Druk's amicable behaviour toward him... How very strange.

Yeah, sorry Zuko, Wan wasn't always the most respectful of other humans. Or most spirits. That was usually Raava's influence on him leaking through.

He nodded slowly, "I am."

And he wondered if, should he decide to take off on a cloud, Lord Zuko would follow him on the dragon's back.

"I didn't know this dragon was your friend. He was very kind to allow me to ride him."

"He is. Druk doesn't often allow strangers to ride him." He glanced to the dragon, and there was definitely no indication from his behaviour that Wan had somehow forced his way into riding him against his will. He was telling the truth.

But since the stranger seems rather flighty (no pun intended), and not so forthcoming on who he is, Zuko opts for a less direct question. "Was there anywhere in particular the two of you were headed?"

"We were looking for a friend of mine that passed this way," he said easily enough. He didn't have anything to hide... well, not about why he was there. "The dragon, I mean Druk, offered to fly me since he knew which way she'd gone and I had lost the trail."

"Then I'm glad he was able to help. Did you have any success?" Zuko asked, still keeping his line of questioning indirect. He was still trying to figure out what about this stranger made Druk instinctively trust him... And why the stranger was so respectful, but fearless, of the dragon. It was hardly a typical reaction at all.
raavashing: (smile: sang no oh oh oh)

Wan nodded slowly and started to move awkwardly away from Druk to try and circle around Zuko. He was clearly attempting to get to a point where he could easily start walking away without being as rude as he had been on their first meeting, "We did. Found her trail again and it looks like she's heading home. So no need to worry."

He smiled a big, crooked smile.
