Welcome to Republic City!

It was a bright and sunny normal day in Republic City. Children were playing, spirits were chirping about, and everything was going along like normal. Well at least that's what everyone seemed to think. That is until so many people seemed to be appearing out of nowhere. For some reason Republic City seemed to be more lively and the crowds bigger.

The spirits have grown restless as if something important was about to change, and to try to fix that change, the spirits with their big long tree like limbs dragged people into the world left and right. Even the vines covering Republic City seemed to help. Although the spirits had the best intentions in mind, some people were more affected by the grab than others. There's talk that people in this city don't even know what this place is. People who have never heard of the words "bender" or "non-bender."

Welcome to Republic City! And to those who already live here: Happy Saturday. Please make yourselves at home and don't mind a little spirit gunk. It's mostly harmless. Go enjoy yourself a classic mover. Maybe you're the athletic type. If that's the case, come watch a few Pro-bending matches or form your own team. Just watch out for any Satomobiles. They can be deadly no matter how pretty the driver is.

Please remember to enjoy your stay and don't cause too much trouble. The Republic City Police don't need more riffraff to take care of. And don't stray too far. To make the the peace is kept, there's a huge spirit barrier around the perimeter of the city. It seems pretty strong, but it won't be able to last forever. Still, it's worrying. Radio signals and telegraphs don't seem to be getting past it.

[ OOC: The game is officially open! From this point on, feel free to make any posts you want or tag into this. Please remember to tag your posts with Canon: Character. Finally, although the game has no real network, you're free to respond with prose or brackets, whatever you're comfortable with. With that said, have fun! ]

"I am having fun!" Nezha laughed back, using his spear as a polevault to leap over the fiery whip and throw back a few bursts of his own. He held no illusions that they'd hit, but at this point the adrenaline pumping through him was enough that he was having a blast.

"Good!" Mikazuki laughed as he dodged the flames. When one burst hit so close it singed his hair, his smile got so wide it looked like his face was about to split.

Another stream whipped, this time at the spear. It was very cool and everything, but he'd have a better chance if he knocked it out of Nezha's hand.

Which was something Nezha wasn't about to let happen if he could avoid it. As much as he subscribed to the thought that benders had an unfair advantage fighting nonbenders, that same attitude didn't apply to using weapons in tandem with bending, mostly because anyone could pick up a weapon.

The teen swung his spear around to deflect the whip, and while it did jolt the weapon and send pangs of pain up his arms, it remained in his grip. Finally spotting an opening, he continued the polearm's swing back and forth across his own body, sending arcs one after another at the same angle as the swing.

Failed! Mikazuki was starting to get just a little frustrated by that spear. He was about to launch another counterattack when the street, quite literally, shook.

The fight carried them back to the Spirit Wilds, and after some stray gusts of flame hit the vines, the residents decided they had enough. A large spirits stomped out of the Wilds. An alligator-wolf, larger than it had any right to and mighty pissed if the bared fangs were any indication. When it spoke, the ground rumbled.

"Just what do you think you're doing?"

Nezha halted mid-swing, effectively pulled out of his frenzy by the sudden intrusion.

Now, had he found that spirit before he met Mikazuki, he'd be all over trying to fight the thing like an idiot, but he'd already become invested in the fight with the other firebender by the time it interrupted. As it was, their little match had begun to draw more than just spirits, if the sound of police sirens getting closer was any indication.

"We can finish this later, right?" Nezha called to his opponent, already preparing to make a run for it lest he have to deal with the cops again.

Mikazuki wouldn't mind turning the situation into a three-way match, but Nezha was already retreating, and the crow-hawk spirit left its perch to fly back to Mikazuki and pull urgently on his sleeve.

He should probably listen to the little guy.

"You bet," he called back, waving. "Don't worry, this isn't over! I'll see you later, uh--what's your name, actually?"

I apologise for this shitty tag.

"Nezha!" He called back, grinning like a maniac as he fled.

no worries, sometimes less is more!

"Mikazuki!"

He thought of throwing another witty retort, but Nezha already disappeared and the large spirit was looming closer. Oh well, next time. He fled the scene.
