Welcome to Republic City!

It was a bright and sunny normal day in Republic City. Children were playing, spirits were chirping about, and everything was going along like normal. Well at least that's what everyone seemed to think. That is until so many people seemed to be appearing out of nowhere. For some reason Republic City seemed to be more lively and the crowds bigger.

The spirits have grown restless as if something important was about to change, and to try to fix that change, the spirits with their big long tree like limbs dragged people into the world left and right. Even the vines covering Republic City seemed to help. Although the spirits had the best intentions in mind, some people were more affected by the grab than others. There's talk that people in this city don't even know what this place is. People who have never heard of the words "bender" or "non-bender."

Welcome to Republic City! And to those who already live here: Happy Saturday. Please make yourselves at home and don't mind a little spirit gunk. It's mostly harmless. Go enjoy yourself a classic mover. Maybe you're the athletic type. If that's the case, come watch a few Pro-bending matches or form your own team. Just watch out for any Satomobiles. They can be deadly no matter how pretty the driver is.

Please remember to enjoy your stay and don't cause too much trouble. The Republic City Police don't need more riffraff to take care of. And don't stray too far. To make the the peace is kept, there's a huge spirit barrier around the perimeter of the city. It seems pretty strong, but it won't be able to last forever. Still, it's worrying. Radio signals and telegraphs don't seem to be getting past it.

[ OOC: The game is officially open! From this point on, feel free to make any posts you want or tag into this. Please remember to tag your posts with Canon: Character. "I was there, on Tenzin’s sky bison with you and Bo." He didn’t dispute her statement, Asami wouldn’t make things up or mistake something like his absence.

"Everyone else has been from different places entirely, but two weeks?" It wasn’t something he was taking lightly. Not when Zaheer had finally gotten what he was after. "Want to fill me in on the details? The police report Lin filed isn’t complete."
paishodown: (let's be srs)

yeah something like that

Asami nodded, still clearly concerned, but there wasn't any lead on an explanation, yet. She followed by describing the occurrences of the past few weeks, filling in whatever she feels that Mako could possibly need to know.

"...And I did speak with Bolin, earlier. He seemed fine."
streetferret: (Serious: What is that on the wall anyway)

Mako did his best not to interrupt, and that was hard considering what Asami said followed their regrouping with the missing airbenders. He crossed his arms over his chest, looking down as he went over it in his head.

"That's insane." The words barely left his mouth. He would track Bolin down later and see what his brother's been up to while he was, what? Away? There, but not really?

He took a deep breath, a heavy sigh tried to work its way in and looked back up to her.

"All right. I'll figure out what to do from here."

He didn't want to focus on him being displaced in time, there was too much going on for that to even be an issue when everyone else was on track.

"And keep giving you a hand here. Things are getting crazier, this will help out."
paishodown: (but you're not really giving me much of)

"I hope," Asami said, casting a glance at the growing crowd.

"What worries me the most is the growing population and the limited supplies we're going to have with this giant bubble encasing the city."
streetferret: idk what that means. (You're like a fascinating piece of venee)

"Tell me about it. What you're doing is really helping out. The trade routes being down is killing everybody." He followed her gaze to the crowd. New faces, old faces. All the same, looking for aid.

"I'll get back to helping out." He turned to go, not wanting to be still when he could be doing something; but he stopped just long enough to ask. "Can you not tell the other officers?"

The whole reason he wanted it private in the first place, but Mako wanted to cover all his bases. Even though he probably knew the answer.
paishodown: (Look Mako. Ugly people.)

Asami shook her head quietly.

"I'm not telling anyone. Just... be sure to check in with Bolin." She liked to think that she didn't need to suggest it, but she knew Mako well enough to know that assuming he was going to keep in solid contact... wasn't always accurate.
streetferret: (But didn't die)

He didn’t want to freak his brother out, but Asami’s suggestion made him pause. "Yeah. I will. Thanks." He headed back to help put on the finish touches before handing out donation boxes. More than enough work for him to get lost in and focus on instead of merely coping with the situation.
