Welcome to Republic City!

It was a bright and sunny normal day in Republic City. Children were playing, spirits were chirping about, and everything was going along like normal. Well at least that's what everyone seemed to think. That is until so many people seemed to be appearing out of nowhere. For some reason Republic City seemed to be more lively and the crowds bigger.

The spirits have grown restless as if something important was about to change, and to try to fix that change, the spirits with their big long tree like limbs dragged people into the world left and right. Even the vines covering Republic City seemed to help. Although the spirits had the best intentions in mind, some people were more affected by the grab than others. There's talk that people in this city don't even know what this place is. People who have never heard of the words "bender" or "non-bender."

Welcome to Republic City! And to those who already live here: Happy Saturday. Please make yourselves at home and don't mind a little spirit gunk. It's mostly harmless. Go enjoy yourself a classic mover. Maybe you're the athletic type. If that's the case, come watch a few Pro-bending matches or form your own team. Just watch out for any Satomobiles. They can be deadly no matter how pretty the driver is.

Please remember to enjoy your stay and don't cause too much trouble. The Republic City Police don't need more riffraff to take care of. And don't stray too far. To make the the peace is kept, there's a huge spirit barrier around the perimeter of the city. It seems pretty strong, but it won't be able to last forever. Still, it's worrying. Radio signals and telegraphs don't seem to be getting past it.

[ OOC: The game is officially open! From this point on, feel free to make any posts you want or tag into this. Please remember to tag your posts with Canon: Character. Finally, although the game has no real network, you're free to respond with prose or brackets, whatever you're comfortable with. With that said, have fun! ]

[Mula had met most of them already and gave some quick, polite nose-butts in hello to the ones she recognized before returning to her investigation of the young girl. She didn't seem to smell any different than the other humans of the city beyond the wilds, but the spirits clearly liked her. That made her okay in Mula's book. And after a few more sniffs, Mula made that clear by ducking her head to push it under Jinora's outstretched hand. What was with this palm up thing? The palm needs to be down to give her proper skritchings.]

[ Jinora laughs at the push before obliging and flipping her hand over to skritch under Mula's chin. ]

I've never seen anyone like you in the city before. Maybe the Spirit Wilds looked like a good place to live. At least, you've made some friends here. [ She glances down at the spirits momentarily before returning her gaze and skritching attention to Mula. ]

[Mula purred loudly and moved to lean her body (much larger than Jinora) up against the girl in an attempt to beg more. Maybe she could convince this young human to give her a belly rub, too. Wan didn't do that very often.

She's just a happy kitty.]

Woah!

[ Mula pushing against her is unexpected, but Jinora laughs as she staggers a little before moving both hands to pet her, now. She would be totally down for some belly rubbing. ]

You are adorable. [ She feels the need to say before continuing her petting, moving one hand to her upper back and the other to the front of her stomach. ]

[Mula is pleased. Very, very pleased. But she has also just caught the scent of something and pulls away from Jinora. Her ears perked, tail up, and her whole body attentive as she sniffs the air in the direction opposite of the building she had come out of.

She stays like that for a few moments before trotting off in search of the source of the smell.]

[ Mula's body language intrigues Jinora, and she watches for a moment as she wanders off. She's obviously noticed something, and that's enough to get Jinora's attention too. ]

Oh, wait! Where are you going? [ And she heads off along after her, a few of the spirits following along too. ]

[As Mula headed off, disappearing into the vines, a call came out from the building behind Jinora. The one Mula had come down from.]

Mula? Mula!

[There was now a young man standing on the vines that split open the third floor of the apartment building, looking around for someone.

The catdeer either didn't notice or was too focused on that new smell to care. Besides, Wan could follow her if he needed to. And she would eventually come back.]

[ The voice distracts Jinora for a moment from following Mula, and she turns back towards it. ]

Mula... is that you? [ But when she looks back towards the catdeer, she's already disappeared into the vines. ]

Oh... over here, maybe. [ She calls back, looking up towards the man. ] Is Mula an animal?
raavashing: (Shock: I will carry you with me)

[personal profile] raavashing 2014-11-01 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
[That was not the response Wan had expected. Turning his attention toward the voice and the girl, he slid down the vine to the forest floor. Then he jogged over, slowing down to a walk when he was several feet from her.]

Hello. Yes, Mula's an animal. She's a catdeer. Have you seen her?

[ Jinora nods, pointing towards the direction Mula went in. ]

Yes, she went that way. Do you want me to try and get her? She's very friendly, but... [ She laughs. ] She seemed pretty focused on something.
raavashing: (smile: turned around)

[personal profile] raavashing 2014-11-08 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
She's dedicated once she's decided to do something.

[He laughed lightly, putting a hand on his hip and looking in the direction she pointed.]

Now that I know which way she's gone, I should be able to track her down. Enough spirits should see her and I can ask them. It's important, but it can wait. Are you lost? Or are you here to visit the spirits?
bookbends: (☁ 15)

[personal profile] bookbends 2014-11-12 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, don't worry about me. I'm here to visit. [ Jinora confirms, gesturing towards the spirits that had followed her when she went along with Mula. They're playing amongst each other for the time, but still nearby, so she turns back towards Wan. She seems pleased. ]

You can talk to the spirits?

[ It's always nice to meet people who appreciated them. ]
raavashing: (smile: sang no oh oh oh)

[personal profile] raavashing 2014-11-13 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I do. I haven't seen many humans coming in here to visit the spirits. But I'm glad you have. And I hope more will.

[personal profile] bookbends 2014-11-29 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
Me too. [ Jinora agrees, looking around her once again. ] I really want the spirits and people to get along. I know it might take some time, but... [ She sighs, before looking back at him. ]

I try to visit as much as I can. I've had spirit friends as long as I can remember... but it's so nice being able to see so many of them. [ And then she remembers her manners. ] My name's Jinora.

I'm Wan.

[He continued to grin.]

I just moved in here not long ago. But I've been friends with spirits since I left the city I grew up in. That was about eight years ago, now.

[Give or take a ten thousand year time skip.]

There weren't any in that city, but once I got outside and into the wilds beyond, they were everywhere. It's really great that they're able to live alongside other humans, now.
