Welcome to Republic City!
It was a bright and sunny normal day in Republic City. Children were playing, spirits were chirping about, and everything was going along like normal. Well at least that's what everyone seemed to think. That is until so many people seemed to be appearing out of nowhere. For some reason Republic City seemed to be more lively and the crowds bigger.
The spirits have grown restless as if something important was about to change, and to try to fix that change, the spirits with their big long tree like limbs dragged people into the world left and right. Even the vines covering Republic City seemed to help. Although the spirits had the best intentions in mind, some people were more affected by the grab than others. There's talk that people in this city don't even know what this place is. People who have never heard of the words "bender" or "non-bender."
Welcome to Republic City! And to those who already live here: Happy Saturday. Please make yourselves at home and don't mind a little spirit gunk. It's mostly harmless. Go enjoy yourself a classic mover. Maybe you're the athletic type. If that's the case, come watch a few Pro-bending matches or form your own team. Just watch out for any Satomobiles. They can be deadly no matter how pretty the driver is.
Please remember to enjoy your stay and don't cause too much trouble. The Republic City Police don't need more riffraff to take care of. And don't stray too far. To make the the peace is kept, there's a huge spirit barrier around the perimeter of the city. It seems pretty strong, but it won't be able to last forever. Still, it's worrying. Radio signals and telegraphs don't seem to be getting past it.
[ OOC: The game is officially open! From this point on, feel free to make any posts you want or tag into this. Please remember to tag your posts with Canon: Character. Finally, although the game has no real network, you're free to respond with prose or brackets, whatever you're comfortable with. With that said, have fun! ]

[The extreme pleasure Jinora takes in this seems to amuse Opal.]
You must really like the library.
no subject
But you're right, it is lucky. Maybe it's fate!
no subject
[That seems to amuse Opal. A lot of things have been fate as of late, from her newfound bending abilities to ending up here in Republic City. She walks along Jinora and as they near the library she ends up musing aloud.]
It's amazing how quickly things change, isn't it.
no subject
It is. [ Jinora can't help but agree. ] A lot's been changing... did you mean something specific?
no subject
Not really. Just... life in general. The barrier is one thing but being here in Republic City and all of the airbenders. [There's a brief pause there and then she laughs as she adds.] And being an airbender. It's all... really exciting!
[...]
Well, except for the barrier thing.

There has been a lot changing. I know it's been a lot for you, too, with the airbending... But I'm really glad you're here.
no subject
[That's teasingly said of course.]
Airbending is a nice extra.
no subject
[ She adds in a teasing voice of her own. ]
But that's true! And you wouldn't want to miss it. There are so many books. Books from the city here, books from different nations... That's it right over there. [ And she points over to the official looking building down the street, which has some haggard looking people walking in and out with arms full of books. ]
no subject
Wow, it really is huge.
no subject
It's the second biggest library I've ever seen, but definitely the biggest in the human world. [ Wan Shi Tong's library was an entity unto itself. ]
So... [ She turns from the books back to Opal. ] Any section you want to see? My favorite is the historic one, but there's fiction and sciences and all kinds.
no subject
[After a moment of thinking, Opal grins.]
Why don't we try the fiction section first? There's an author I like who's supposedly put out a new book since training began. I haven't had a chance to read it yet.
no subject
[ And now with travel sort of out of the question... but she nods at Opal's decision. ]
Sounds perfect, let's go. [ And she goes to grab Opal's arm to lead her over to the fiction section, which is full of people of all ages looking at the selection. A library worker waves at Jinora as they walk by. ]
So... what's the book about? [ She asks as she glances at the shelves herself. ]
no subject
[Opal is led along easily, giving the waving worker a brief smile before she replies:]
It's a collection of poems actually. Several Love Poems and a Song of Sadness. It sounds a little melancholy maybe but some of the poems are beautiful.
[She nudges up to scan the shelves now.]
It's by a man named Pabo.

I mean, I was supposed to be going around trying to help the Earth Nation anyway, before the barrier went up. But it couldn't hurt to check out Zaofu too, right?
[ But when she hears about the poems her excitement, if possible, grows. ]
Love poems? Song of Sadness? [ That is right down her alley. ] That does sound beautiful. [ And then a sly look overtakes her. ]
You're in the mood to read love poems, huh?
[ She sees you, Opal. ]
no subject
[In a manner of speaking anyhow. The latter question though has her blushing again.]
I -- maybe? He's one of my favorite authors, that's all.
no subject
But of course what was family for but to tease you? She laughs. ]
Right, your favorite author who writes love poems.
