Welcome to Republic City!

It was a bright and sunny normal day in Republic City. Children were playing, spirits were chirping about, and everything was going along like normal. Well at least that's what everyone seemed to think. That is until so many people seemed to be appearing out of nowhere. For some reason Republic City seemed to be more lively and the crowds bigger.

The spirits have grown restless as if something important was about to change, and to try to fix that change, the spirits with their big long tree like limbs dragged people into the world left and right. Even the vines covering Republic City seemed to help. Although the spirits had the best intentions in mind, some people were more affected by the grab than others. There's talk that people in this city don't even know what this place is. People who have never heard of the words "bender" or "non-bender."

Welcome to Republic City! And to those who already live here: Happy Saturday. Please make yourselves at home and don't mind a little spirit gunk. It's mostly harmless. Go enjoy yourself a classic mover. Maybe you're the athletic type. If that's the case, come watch a few Pro-bending matches or form your own team. Just watch out for any Satomobiles. They can be deadly no matter how pretty the driver is.

Please remember to enjoy your stay and don't cause too much trouble. The Republic City Police don't need more riffraff to take care of. And don't stray too far. To make the the peace is kept, there's a huge spirit barrier around the perimeter of the city. It seems pretty strong, but it won't be able to last forever. Still, it's worrying. Radio signals and telegraphs don't seem to be getting past it.

[ OOC: The game is officially open! From this point on, feel free to make any posts you want or tag into this. Please remember to tag your posts with Canon: Character. Finally, although the game has no real network, you're free to respond with prose or brackets, whatever you're comfortable with. With that said, have fun! ]

In the streets

You're from a village?

[Wan looked the oddly - very oddly - dressed man up and down with a raised eyebrow. A moment later he shrugged and pointed down the street.]

You should head to the harbor or Central Station. They have the most information for new arrivals to the city that I've been able to find. I got here a little over a week ago.
georgeous: (talk; smile - positively surprised)

[ Village wasn't a good call then, George notes mentally.
He gives Wan a smile as he receives the information - he's not sure that the inhabitants of this world aren't vicious aliens just yet, bue he can appreciate when people are being uncomplicatedly helpful. ]

Thank you very much. I'll be sure to check these places out soon then.

What a surprise though, running into another new arrival right away. Where are you from, if I may ask?

[ All info is valuable right now. ]

[Wan had seen quite a few people influx from villages, this guy looked like he was from another city. Actually, he looked enough like he was from Republic City that if he'd told Wan he was an up and coming mover star, Wan probably would have taken it at face value.]

A lot of people come and go to Republic City. It's one of the major trade and cultural hubs in the world. According to all the tourist information, anyway. And I'm not really from anywhere. I left the city I grew up in years ago and have been traveling the world since.
georgeous: (talk - your report was so boring smh)

[ Well, that's huge. Republic City is not a name George ever heard in his life and although he's not surprised in the slightest to find himself away from earth, he feels oddly shocked that there is an entire world with it's own sociopolitical structure surrounding this place.
How could he have ended up here in a matter of seconds? Had he always been this powerless against supernatural influence? ]

Sounds exciting. So this is just another small stop on the way for you, is it?
raavashing: (smile: Til I see you again yeah)

Actually, I'm planning on staying a while.

[Not that he had a choice, but it was still the truth.]

I've already found a great camp site and if I need money, I can pick up an odd job or two delivering things.

I'd be surprised if you didn't need money at some point or another - city life isn't exactly free, is it?

[ He knows from his village rumours, okay?

Not because he's lived in big cities basically all his life. ]
raavashing: (smile: I will carry you with me oh)

Not for most people, no.

[Honestly, it was one of the reasons he enjoyed living off the land with the spirits like he had years ago. Food was yours when you needed it and the spirits watched after him to help him with things like clothes and his teapot. People looked after each other and no one struggled just to get from day to day.]

I'm trying to live as much without relying on money as possible. Staying in the Spirit Wilds helps with that.

Quite the alternative lifestyle.

[ But his attention is caught by the last part of the statement. ]

I didn't know humans could live with the spirits.

A lot of humans don't. They think they have to stay separate, to divide themselves. From the spirits as much as they do each other. But the spirits don't mind humans living with them if the humans don't disturb or destroy the nature they live in. Spirits and nature are more firmly connected than humans and nature.
