It was a bright and sunny normal day in Republic City. Children were playing, spirits were chirping about, and everything was going along like normal. Well at least that's what everyone seemed to think. That is until so many people seemed to be appearing out of nowhere. For some reason Republic City seemed to be more lively and the crowds bigger.

The spirits have grown restless as if something important was about to change, and to try to fix that change, the spirits with their big long tree like limbs dragged people into the world left and right. Even the vines covering Republic City seemed to help. Although the spirits had the best intentions in mind, some people were more affected by the grab than others. There's talk that people in this city don't even know what this place is. People who have never heard of the words "bender" or "non-bender."

Welcome to Republic City! And to those who already live here: Happy Saturday. Please make yourselves at home and don't mind a little spirit gunk. It's mostly harmless. Go enjoy yourself a classic mover. Maybe you're the athletic type. If that's the case, come watch a few Pro-bending matches or form your own team. Just watch out for any Satomobiles. They can be deadly no matter how pretty the driver is.

Please remember to enjoy your stay and don't cause too much trouble. The Republic City Police don't need more riffraff to take care of. And don't stray too far. To make the the peace is kept, there's a huge spirit barrier around the perimeter of the city. It seems pretty strong, but it won't be able to last forever. Still, it's worrying. Radio signals and telegraphs don't seem to be getting past it.

[The roar of Mako’s motorcycle became idle as he stops to look over at the commotion on the sidewalk.]

Hey! [He swiftly gets off his bike and takes off his helmet. Teen gang members never show much respect to cops, but Mako’s had more than enough experience handling the triads.] I said HEY!

[He puts himself firmly between Henry and the trio, folding his arms while giving an annoyed look.]

Get lost before I take you down to the precinct.

I'll let you decide how fast this goes. Since the best Henry can do is kick shins

[No, they certainly do not. Henry mentally thanks his lock when it looks like a cop has come to his defence. Honestly, he thought they would be trying to lock someone like him up right now. He's just going to stand behind the wall known as Mako.]

I'm not sure they're going to-

[And he's right, immediately cut off when one of the teens just bends some water from under their coat and launches a frozen block straight for Mako's head.]

[Scowling, Mako dashes forward and turns his head so the block barely grazes his hair. Fire forms at his hand and he continues the momentum to send enough fire to hit his chest and knock the waterbending delinquent off his feet. One of the others put their hands up and backs away.

The last one however decides to make a break around Mako and go straight for Henry’s bag and turns up a chunk of pavement to hit Mako with.]

I said

[The cement collides into his shoulder and he gives a rolling kick as he whirls from the impact. Just as the teen’s got his hands on Henry’s bag, the shot of flame hit his knee and forces him down to clutch the burn.]

get lost.

[Sighing while rubbing his shoulder, Mako knows they’re going to be more paperwork than they’re worth. But he looks over to Henry.]

You okay?

[Henry covers his head out of instinct when the block of ice goes soaring past him, but he watches in amazement at the fighting. He almost blanks out completely when one of them tries to go at him. Henry pulls back bag back and would've been ready to swing it into the face of the oncoming guy his book should allow for a nice solid hit

But, nope. That's not happening with his bag is now getting pried from his hands. The police cop is all over that one when the thief just drops over in pain.

Henry's eyes trail between the injured thieves, to the cop, back to the thieves and then the cop.

As scary as he thought fire was before when Lord Zuko showed him, this has given him a new insight and that is:]

Are you like, fire bending Batman or something? That was awesome!

[Oh right, he's being asked something.]

Oh, yeah I'm fine. They didn't get the chance to do anything.

[Rubbing his shoulder with a gloved hand, Mako gives Henry a raised eyebrow.]

A batman. [Not even a question because what kind of animal myth is that? WHAT EVEN...]

You shouldn't walk in Agni Kai territory alone. Where are your parents?

[It is a myth to the criminals of Gotham.

But, back onto the subject of who the heck he was just getting attacked by.]

Agni-whats? That's a gang name, right?

[Weirdest gang name ever. The topic of his parents visibly saddens Henry.]

I dunno, I just showed up here without them. My moms might be trying to figure out how to get here still.

[Mako notes the question and nods. The rest of Henry's statement confirming that he's another 'out of worlder'.

Of all things, a kid gets stuck without his parents. Or moms in this case.]

Yeah, I don't think they get a choice when it comes to the vines. [Done with his task, Mako walks back to his motorcycle and is apparently about to leave as he radios for the nearest cop car to come pick up the unconscious gang members.

He turns to look at Henry as he mounts his bike.]

Come on. I'll take you to the precinct. [Not like he's going to leave him on his own. Even though he's not best on manners, Mako didn't even introduce himself, he does care.]

No, I mean, they will come. My family has a thing about finding each other no matter where we are.

[His voice is assured at his own statement. He knew they'd be here.

For a second, he thinks Mako is about to drive away on him. Wow, some guy.

That's proven wrong in a second with Mako's next words.]

This isn't some weird excuse to arrest me is it?

[Mako gives him a flat eyed look to both of Henry’s reactions. But he’s not about to stamp out the kid’s hopes, not when he doesn’t entirely understand what’s making people show up.]

Arrest you for getting bullied. What kind of police force do you think Republic City has?

Right now, best thing is finding you a place to stay. Food’s going to get tight, so being on the street’s not going to do you any favors. Trust me.

[There's a breath of relief from Henry. With people being very suspicious regarding the whole other world thing it's good enough that this cop would think different.]

I guess not a very good one if you'd arrest me for something like that.

[Not wanting to sleep out on the street tonight, he goes over to the back of Mako's motorcycle and climbs onto the back.]

You know, I've never been on one of these before.

[His mothers would probably have heart attacks.]
