Welcome to Republic City!

It was a bright and sunny normal day in Republic City. Children were playing, spirits were chirping about, and everything was going along like normal. Well at least that's what everyone seemed to think. That is until so many people seemed to be appearing out of nowhere. For some reason Republic City seemed to be more lively and the crowds bigger.

The spirits have grown restless as if something important was about to change, and to try to fix that change, the spirits with their big long tree like limbs dragged people into the world left and right. Even the vines covering Republic City seemed to help. Although the spirits had the best intentions in mind, some people were more affected by the grab than others. There's talk that people in this city don't even know what this place is. People who have never heard of the words "bender" or "non-bender."

Welcome to Republic City! And to those who already live here: Happy Saturday. Please make yourselves at home and don't mind a little spirit gunk. It's mostly harmless. Go enjoy yourself a classic mover. Maybe you're the athletic type. If that's the case, come watch a few Pro-bending matches or form your own team. Just watch out for any Satomobiles. They can be deadly no matter how pretty the driver is.

Please remember to enjoy your stay and don't cause too much trouble. The Republic City Police don't need more riffraff to take care of. And don't stray too far. To make the the peace is kept, there's a huge spirit barrier around the perimeter of the city. It seems pretty strong, but it won't be able to last forever. Still, it's worrying. Radio signals and telegraphs don't seem to be getting past it.

[ OOC: The game is officially open! From this point on, feel free to make any posts you want or tag into this. Please remember to tag your posts with Canon: Character. Finally, although the game has no real network, you're free to respond with prose or brackets, whatever you're comfortable with. With that said, have fun! ]

[The woman finally slams the booth closed in his face. Letting out a sigh of agitation, Henry turns to the voice that just addressed him.]

I'm starting to get the feeling.

[It's not like he has a credit card to steal here.]

Do you know what money looks like here?

[Because maybe he can finally get some.]

[ George shrugs. ]

Similar enough to your dollar bills, but pinker and with asian writing.

[ Or so he's observed by... shamelessly staring at people's market business. A professional way of getting information, really. ]

But for you to have those bills at all... you're not from here, are you?

[Asian writing? So, he was in a place like China? If that was true he was probably in a land like Mulan's in the Enchanted forest. Since, floating sparkly things that looked vaguely like fish were flying all about.]

Great, guessing they don't do exchanges? [How would inter dimensional exchange rates work anyways?

Henry looks down to the money in his hand and then slowly back at the man in front of him.]

Is it that obvious?

Kind of, yes.

[ Judging by the fact that earth money really shouldn't exist here and someone who stole it would know better than to try and pay with it.

There is a pause as George considers how much he should tell this boy, but then he decides in favour of earth solidarity. Protecting humans is his job after all. What are the chances a child would turn out to be an enemy anyway?
He looks around quickly - the stereotypical check to see if anyone is listening. ]

I am in the same situation after all.

[The confirmation is enough for Henry to look somewhat relieved. If he wasn't the only one who came from another world there obviously must be more.]

That's great. I mean, not the getting brought here part, but, maybe there's somebody who can use portals to get us home.

[He's already on an optimistic streak. Better pull out now or there will be no escape from Operation Sparrow.]

Portals, huh? In any case, that'd be ideal. I wish I had had any of my equipment on me when I got taken.

The question is whether or not anybody with such an ability got taken at all - and if we can find them. As many confused people as I've seen since arrival, you are the first who is from earth.

[ Or at least he assumes the dollar bill means they are from the same earth - he's in for bitter surprises with the multiverse being more multi than expected. ]

It doesn't have to be people. There might be portal beans somewhere in this world.

[And yes, he did say beans.]

Or maybe there's a mirror that acts as one, but, you're right. We'll have to find someone here who knows about them.
georgeous: (smile; stress - my world is crashing)

[personal profile] georgeous 2014-10-11 12:24 pm (UTC)(link)
...beans.

[ Well, that´s a new one. George does not dismiss the notion of portals, considering his work with the supernatural, but this is starting to get odd. ]

You seem to have quite the specific experience with these things.

[Don't question the logic of his world. It just makes things less complicated.]

I was kind of taken through one made that way...buuut you don't believe me, do you?
georgeous: (talk - your report was so boring smh)

[personal profile] georgeous 2014-10-13 12:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I have a healthy amount of doubt.

It would be unwise to just take a stranger´s word without it, but considering our recent situation I am more inclined to believe you than not.

[ He pauses, looking thoughtful. ]

Assuming neither of us are lying to each other, it´s quite interesting actually - our spirit captors might have a fondness for taking those with previous supernatural experiences.

[There's just a long sigh at the "doubt" that this man has. It'd be nice just to be believed in completely. But, he'll take what he can get.]

Better than nothing.

[The man's theory isn't something Henry's willing to discredit.]

That could be it. Nothings ever really normal where I'm from.
