Welcome to Republic City!

It was a bright and sunny normal day in Republic City. Children were playing, spirits were chirping about, and everything was going along like normal. Well at least that's what everyone seemed to think. That is until so many people seemed to be appearing out of nowhere. For some reason Republic City seemed to be more lively and the crowds bigger.

The spirits have grown restless as if something important was about to change, and to try to fix that change, the spirits with their big long tree like limbs dragged people into the world left and right. Even the vines covering Republic City seemed to help. Although the spirits had the best intentions in mind, some people were more affected by the grab than others. There's talk that people in this city don't even know what this place is. People who have never heard of the words "bender" or "non-bender."

Welcome to Republic City! And to those who already live here: Happy Saturday. Please make yourselves at home and don't mind a little spirit gunk. It's mostly harmless. Go enjoy yourself a classic mover. Maybe you're the athletic type. If that's the case, come watch a few Pro-bending matches or form your own team. Just watch out for any Satomobiles. They can be deadly no matter how pretty the driver is.

Please remember to enjoy your stay and don't cause too much trouble. The Republic City Police don't need more riffraff to take care of. And don't stray too far. To make the the peace is kept, there's a huge spirit barrier around the perimeter of the city. It seems pretty strong, but it won't be able to last forever. Still, it's worrying. Radio signals and telegraphs don't seem to be getting past it.

[ OOC: The game is officially open! From this point on, feel free to make any posts you want or tag into this. Please remember to tag your posts with Canon: Character. Finally, although the game has no real network, you're free to respond with prose or brackets, whatever you're comfortable with. With that said, have fun! ]

[The boy considered it, looking the stranger up and down. Eventually, he straightened up and laughed, tapping the end of his spear on the ground.]

See, the problem with that is you're covered in armor. [Not that it should make an enormous difference, but "scratching" would be significantly more difficult to do to someone encased in metal.]

[Slade scoffs at Nezha.]

If you can't take down an armored opponent then how good of a warrior are you, really?

I can. I was just worried it might hamper your mobility is all. Wouldn't be any fun if you didn't fight me at your best!

[And without further ado, the teen swung the polearm around, sending an arc of fire at Slade while he leaped back to put some distance between them. The second his feet touched the ground again, Nezha bolted left to attempt to circle around behind him.]

[Slade does not seemed slowed at all by his metal armor. In fact, it actually heightens his speed and power, as the metal-bending mercenary uses his powers on his own suit to propel his armor in whatever direction he moves. Slade does a blinding-fast flip away from the arc of fire and lands at a 90-degree angle on the stone alley wall, which he proceeds to run on as if flat ground.]

[No time to appreciate that trick, Nezha keeps moving. He knows the close quarters put him at a disadvantage for both his bending and his weapon, so he's keen to take this fight out of the alley and into somewhere more open, or at least put a bit more distance between them.

He only pauses once; using the spear as a pole to swing his body around and fire off a few more arcs from his feet, hopefully to slow down his pursuer.]

Sorry for delay, this week has been very busy.

[Slade does a roll at incredible speed under the arc of fire and toward Nezha, closing the gap. He attempts a series of lightning-quick jabs into the young man's pressure points in an attempt to block his chi.]
windfire_donuts: (Human: That's dumb. You're dumb.)

np, I understand how that can be.

[It's not normal to move that fast.

Fortunately for the firebender, he's also got a few tricks up his sleeve, not the least or which being the speed of which he can swing that polearm. He just barely manages to twist his body in time to deflect one of Slade's arms with the spear. The second hand gets through, but the odd angle the boy had to contort himself into to parry the first hand meant that his jabs missed their intended targets. Sure, they hurt, but not enough to cut him off.

Not wasting a moment, Nezha flowed from the movement of the swing into a backward jab with the butt of the spear, aiming for Slade's stomach.]

[The butt of the spear strikes Slade hard in the stomach, knocking the wind out of him a bit. He momentarily drops back into a defensive stance.]

"Not bad, but I think you are using the wrong end of your weapon."

[Slade then proceeds to stomp the ground with his forward foot, sending a shockwave through the street using his earthbending in the hopes of breaking Nezha's balance.]

[Nezha doesn't stop, instead using the precious few seconds he'd bought himself by landing that blow to increase the distance between them and get him closer to the mouth of the alley.]

There is no wrong end of a weapon if you know how to use it! [He called back as he ran, the mirth having returned to his voice. It was then that the shockwave ran through the ground beneath his feet, and while he did stumble a bit, slowing his retreat, he remained on his feet.

Still, so close to that open area!]
