Welcome to Republic City!

It was a bright and sunny normal day in Republic City. Children were playing, spirits were chirping about, and everything was going along like normal. Well at least that's what everyone seemed to think. That is until so many people seemed to be appearing out of nowhere. For some reason Republic City seemed to be more lively and the crowds bigger.

The spirits have grown restless as if something important was about to change, and to try to fix that change, the spirits with their big long tree like limbs dragged people into the world left and right. Even the vines covering Republic City seemed to help. Although the spirits had the best intentions in mind, some people were more affected by the grab than others. There's talk that people in this city don't even know what this place is. People who have never heard of the words "bender" or "non-bender."

Welcome to Republic City! And to those who already live here: Happy Saturday. Please make yourselves at home and don't mind a little spirit gunk. It's mostly harmless. Go enjoy yourself a classic mover. Maybe you're the athletic type. If that's the case, come watch a few Pro-bending matches or form your own team. Just watch out for any Satomobiles. They can be deadly no matter how pretty the driver is.

Please remember to enjoy your stay and don't cause too much trouble. The Republic City Police don't need more riffraff to take care of. And don't stray too far. To make the the peace is kept, there's a huge spirit barrier around the perimeter of the city. It seems pretty strong, but it won't be able to last forever. Still, it's worrying. Radio signals and telegraphs don't seem to be getting past it.

It was probably a bad thing that he was in such a daze from this new surrounding, because it didn't give him much time to be on alert when a possibly familiar girl came running right into him.

She was wandering the streets taking in all of these amazing new attractions when she arrived. Ba Sing Se's lower ring had nothing on this place. She was lost in all this wonder and amazement when she heard the horn of a Satomobile blaring away at her. It scared her enough to make her run all the way to the other side of the street and right into Zuko.

She stumbled back and fell down on the ground with a loud squeak.

"I'm so sorry about that, it was all my... fault," she trailed off as she squinted up at Zuko.

"Lee?"

Zuko didn't see it coming, although he probably should have. But yes, this town with all its loud noises and so many things to look at is very confusing and distracting. Thus he stumbled a bit when she bumped into him, his gaze quickly snapping in her direction.

"Hey! Watch where you're-!"

And he was cut off mid sentence when the girl used a name he hadn't heard in a while now. His eyes widening a bit as recognition suddenly dawned upon him.

"Jin? Is that... you?"

It's definitely Zuko or... er... Lee. But he's a couple years older now from when she last saw him.

She almost couldn't recognize him. His hair was fuller and he looked a little older as well, but she could just tell it had to be Lee, and when he said her name she knew it was true. She actually got to meet Lee again. She didn't think she'd get another chance to see him what with that date that she scared him off from, or well she felt she did anyway.

She laughed sheepishly and gave him one of her usual smiles and a little wave.

"Long time no see, huh?"

"Yeah... a really long time."

Zuko rubbed the back of his neck just as sheepishly. This is weird, and a little awkward. He definitely hadn't expected to see Jin again any time soon. Not that he wasn't happy to see her or anything!

"What are you doing here?"

She finally pulled herself up and dusted herself off before looking around. She really wished she could answer that question, but honestly she was still confused on that part. She turned back to Zuko and laughed while shrugging her shoulders.

"I really wish I knew, but I sort of just... came somehow? I mean the last thing I remember I was having a cup of tea and then I find myself in this place completely different from home," she replied softly before continuing on, "It's all really neat though."

Leave it to Zuko to not even think about offering to help her to her feet. Oh well. He's pretty out of it. This new place being a bit overwhelming. Although his oblivious thoughtlessness is partly to blame too. Her story sounds familiar though.

"The same thing happened to me. I was talking with my mother and suddenly I was in the middle of those things."

He glanced over at the cars that were going by.

"You mean those weird moving carts? They're really scary if I had to be honest! One of them screamed really loud in my ear when I was walking by," she shuddered a little, just remembering how the horn sounded.

Actually she should be thankful for those moving carts though. In a way they sort of led her to Lee, didn't they? Maybe it was some sort of fate working its magic. Hey, her romantic mind could think that way, couldn't it?

"Yeah. Same here. I've never seen anything like them before."

How can they even move without an Ostrich Horse or a Dragon Moose pulling them? This place is really strange. But that's really not the important thing here, is it?

"It sounds like we both came here the same way. Maybe you should stick with me, and we can find out what's going on."

He's definitely not as unsure of himself and awkward, at the moment anyway, like when they first met.

How could she possibly say no to an offer like that? She wasn't really sure what was happening or why Zuko seemed a little different from what she remembered, but she wasn't going to complain. She took a few steps closer to him and folded her hands behind her back. Hey, if he wanted her to stick with him, she was going to like a baby turtle duck trail.

"That sounds like a perfect idea, Lee. Two heads are better than one after all."

He smiled a little at Jin. It's... really nice to see her again, even if things had been pretty awkward between them before. Plus it's good to see a familiar face in a place like this. Which makes him wonder if they're the only ones or not.

But wait, that name again. That reminded Zuko that she doesn't actually know who he really is. And... maybe that's a good thing. At least for now. Because it might be better if he goes by Lee again, considering they have no idea where they are or what's going on. Best to stay low for now.

With that thought in mind, he reached up to pull out the golden headpiece and undo his top knot. Allowing his hair to fall freely in his face again. He then tucked the golden artifact into his tunic.

She watched him curiously wondering what exactly was he doing? Maybe it just felt nicer to have his hair down? Well it probably wasn't too important to ask him about right this minute. Besides, she liked it better messy anyway. She laughed and reached up to ruffle up his hair, for old times sake.

" You really let it grow out quite a bit, huh. It looks nice."

Zuko's eyes widened a bit, a slight blush crossing his cheeks when she ruffled his hair. Just like that one time. Instinctively his hand went up to it to straighten it out again. Though there was no protest about it this time.

"Thanks."

And now he feels a bit awkward, thinking maybe he should say something more than that.

"You uh... look good too."

Well it only seemed fair to return the compliment.

She was expecting him to protest like last time, she didn't however expect him to compliment her right back. Her cheeks instantly changed color a little and she pushed her hair back. Okay so maybe he just meant it in a friendly way like you look nice today or that hairstyle is working for you, but she couldn't help but feel a little flustered.

" O-oh um Thank you Lee, that's really sweet of you to say," she looked up at him with a shy smile.

Not only is he older, but he's a bit more mature too. Things have changed, a lot, since they had last seen each other. But yeah, his compliment had only been a friendly one. He smiles back, but then looks up and around, rubbing the back of his neck again as he tries to figure out what to do. But he realizes that if Jin is here, and came the same way he did, there's the possibility that others did too.

"Come on, let's see if we can find some answers."

She nodded her head and quickly kept to his side. In a weird way this was her way of trying to keep Lee from disappearing again. She didn't want to annoy him by being clingy or scare him away either, so she was going to try and keep her feelings more held back.

"Alrighty Lee. I am at your command!"

She bowed to him playfully while continuing to walk at his side.

Well she's doing a pretty good job of it so far, and Zuko could use a friend in this strange place too. They both probably could, actually. But wait... at his command?

"Uh... I didn't mean it like that."

He probably had sounded a bit... authoritative? After all, as Fire Lord, he's used to ordering people around, but he didn't want her to think that he was doing that to her! Apparently her playfulness had been kinda lost on him.

She gave him a confused look at first and then burst into a fit of giggles. She forgot how serious he took things. He must have thought she was being serious. She shook her head and smiled.

"I was only teasing you, Lee. I knew you weren't trying to be all," She paused for a second only to try and make her voice sound deeper and continued on, "Jin do this Jin do that."

"Oh..."

And now he looked pretty sheepish.

"That's... good then."

Even after all this time, he's still not all that good with girls. Which is part of the reason why he's single right now.

She giggles a little more and moves closer to lock her arm with his. If it seemed to bother him she would let go. She just kind of wanted to test the waters to see how uncomfortable he might feel around her. She's hoping it's not a lot.

" Don't worry, you'll get used to me and my weirdness again. It shouldn't be that hard," she smiles playfully.

While he's not exactly uncomfortable with it, he does blush a bit when her arm goes around his. He doesn't complain, though. Instead he just walks with her, his blush eventually fading into another smile.

"Yeah... I will."

So, arm in arm, the Fire Lord and the Earth Kingdom girl will walk through the city to find out whatever they can about this strange place.

Jin happily keeps at his side, doing her best not be be pushy and actually trying to be helpful by pointing things out along their way. Hopefully for Zuko's sake they don't happen across the park in their journey or he may never get her to get away from all the pretty fountains and ponds.
