It was a bright and sunny normal day in Republic City. Children were playing, spirits were chirping about, and everything was going along like normal. Well at least that's what everyone seemed to think. That is until so many people seemed to be appearing out of nowhere. For some reason Republic City seemed to be more lively and the crowds bigger.

The spirits have grown restless as if something important was about to change, and to try to fix that change, the spirits with their big long tree like limbs dragged people into the world left and right. Even the vines covering Republic City seemed to help. Although the spirits had the best intentions in mind, some people were more affected by the grab than others. There's talk that people in this city don't even know what this place is. People who have never heard of the words "bender" or "non-bender."

Welcome to Republic City! And to those who already live here: Happy Saturday. Please make yourselves at home and don't mind a little spirit gunk. It's mostly harmless. Go enjoy yourself a classic mover. Maybe you're the athletic type. If that's the case, come watch a few Pro-bending matches or form your own team. Just watch out for any Satomobiles. They can be deadly no matter how pretty the driver is.

Please remember to enjoy your stay and don't cause too much trouble. The Republic City Police don't need more riffraff to take care of. And don't stray too far. To make the the peace is kept, there's a huge spirit barrier around the perimeter of the city. It seems pretty strong, but it won't be able to last forever. Still, it's worrying. Radio signals and telegraphs don't seem to be getting past it.

So shouldn't you be helping them?

[He'll follow her over for a better look, but he's still not really interested in helping. He just chews on his food and watches the people across the street scramble around. Hasn't anyone called the fire department? They have one of those in Republic City, right? He's been in Ba Sing Se for so long he doesn't really remember, not that he bothered to know in the first place.]

[ She will be shoving a bucket of water at him when they get closer to the fire. She may not know much about this city, but she knows walking away when citizens were in trouble was not an okay thing to do. ]

[He frowns down at the bucket. How did he get himself roped into this again? He's holding a bucket intended to douse a fire in some crappy little store in Republic City while wearing jewelry he stole of the still-warm corpse of the queen of the Earth Kingdom. There's a certain irony about that and it's not the kind he likes.]

Who said I wanted to help?

[He tosses the water at the building, not that it does a whole lot of good. Probably, being a firebender, there was probably more that he could be doing, but he was an agent of the Red Lotus, not a member of the fire brigade.]

[ She points to her head and starts trying to douse the fire herself. ]

[He puts his hand on her head and musses her hair up a bit while she tries to work.]

You have a whole guide in here? I'm impressed! What does it say about bossing strangers around?

[For all that he's not thrilled with the situation in general, he can't deny that this girl is growing on him a bit. He can't help it. His favorite kind of people are the ones whose personalities are as different from his own as possible.]

[ She makes a weird squeaky noise from the hair ruffling and sticks her tongue out while handing him another bucket. ]

It says bossing strangers around is okay if the stranger is being a lazybutt.

What if I was a dangerous lazybutt? I could be pretty dangerous, you know. What if I started this fire?

[He tosses the water at the building and sets the bucket back down. He's still not interested in putting in too much of of an effort to get the fire under control, but he'll play along enough to keep Jin's attention.]

Then first you will help me help them put it out and then I'll make sure to scold you afterward.

[ She put a hand on her hip and gave him a look. ]

[He laughs out loud at that, then points at her with a huge smile on his face.]

[ Throwing another bucket of water at the fire.

Funny? But she was being serious ):]

If you keep helping me I'll tell you.

Whaaat? No fair! I'd tell you mine.

[He'd tell anyone his. If Lau found out about that, he'd probably give him the angry squinty face (which wasn't different enough from his usual squinty face for most people to tell it was the angry one) and make some smart remark about...well, who ever knew with him? He wouldn't come out and say "Don't tell everyone who you are, Judar. Do you tell them you're with the Red Lotus, too? I should throw you off the airship!" but if you could do Lau-to-normal-person translation, you'd get the point.]

[ She tries to keep her stern face but she ends up grinning a tiny bit. ]

[It sounds like the fire department is on their way, anyway. Spoilsports. Oh well, he has something else to do.]

[ Jin looked a little more relieved when she saw more people coming to help the burning building. At least now professionals were here to tame it. ]

Huh? A nickname? But you hardly even know me.

I do, though! You're bossy and stubborn, you've got a guide in your head, and you're dumb enough to talk to dangerous strangers!

[He crosses his arms and tips his head from side to side trying to think of what he could boil that down to.]

Maybe just "Bossy" would work. Don't people call cows that?

I couldn't have bossed you around enough that you'd think of me as a cow, could I?

[ Instead of being annoyed she sounded more amused by his train of thought. ]

Why not? Maybe if I make you mad enough, you'll charge at me!

[He holds his fingers up to make horns and dips his head, pretending to make a charge towards her.]

Calling me a cow isn't going to make me mad at you, silly.

Huh? Why not?

[He wiggles his "horns" a little to show his confusion. Girls usually get really mad when you call them names like that. He's certainly done it enough times to know.]

Because cows are pretty cute. And I see nothing wrong with being cute.

[It may not make her mad, but it amuses him and that's good enough for now. If something more appropriate occurs to him, he'll just switch.]

[He's going to try to escape before she finds more work for him to do.]

[He waves and walks backwards away from her, though he's taking his time about it. The look on her face is too funny to just turn his back on.]
