Welcome to Republic City!

It was a bright and sunny normal day in Republic City. Children were playing, spirits were chirping about, and everything was going along like normal. Well at least that's what everyone seemed to think. That is until so many people seemed to be appearing out of nowhere. For some reason Republic City seemed to be more lively and the crowds bigger.

The spirits have grown restless as if something important was about to change, and to try to fix that change, the spirits with their big long tree like limbs dragged people into the world left and right. Even the vines covering Republic City seemed to help. Although the spirits had the best intentions in mind, some people were more affected by the grab than others. There's talk that people in this city don't even know what this place is. People who have never heard of the words "bender" or "non-bender."

Welcome to Republic City! And to those who already live here: Happy Saturday. Please make yourselves at home and don't mind a little spirit gunk. It's mostly harmless. Go enjoy yourself a classic mover. Maybe you're the athletic type. If that's the case, come watch a few Pro-bending matches or form your own team. Just watch out for any Satomobiles. They can be deadly no matter how pretty the driver is.

Please remember to enjoy your stay and don't cause too much trouble. The Republic City Police don't need more riffraff to take care of. And don't stray too far. To make the the peace is kept, there's a huge spirit barrier around the perimeter of the city. It seems pretty strong, but it won't be able to last forever. Still, it's worrying. Radio signals and telegraphs don't seem to be getting past it.

[ OOC: The game is officially open! From this point on, feel free to make any posts you want or tag into this. Please remember to tag your posts with Canon: Character. Finally, although the game has no real network, you're free to respond with prose or brackets, whatever you're comfortable with. With that said, have fun! ]

"Right." Asami folded her arms.

"You going to tell me where you're from? Or just keep passively saying that Republic City is archaic?"
prettyinhandcuffs: (hey there)

Duo grinned. "Originally? L2 colony cluster, but I've been calling Brussels home lately, even if it does sound like a vegetable kids push around on their plates. But from the reactions I've been getting asking for directions, I have a feeling that's a long ways from here."
paishodown: (uuhhhhh)

[personal profile] paishodown 2014-10-05 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
"Very long. Never even heard of it." Come to think of it, there had been a lot of people asking her for directions today.

"How did you get here?" If he didn't even know how far he was from home...
prettyinhandcuffs: (headrub)

"See, that I have no freaking clue about." He shrugged his shoulders, giving the town around them another look. "Was on my way to lunch and bam, I'm here and my head's spinning."
paishodown: (uuhhhhh)

Okay, she had heard whispers about some weird things happening, but...

"That's... odd." Asami would have thought he was just lying, if everything she'd seen throughout the day hadn't pointed to the opposite.

"Has this happened to anyone else you know, by any chance?"
prettyinhandcuffs: (serious - my apple)

[personal profile] prettyinhandcuffs 2014-10-05 11:21 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, I've heard a couple of people saying similar things," Duo said with a nod. "Don't think they really knew what was causing it either. Least, didn't say if they did."
paishodown: (let's be srs)

[personal profile] paishodown 2014-10-06 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
"Sounds like more Spirit business, than anything. This isn't the first time we've had weird, irreversible things happen since the portals were reopened." Suddenly, airbenders and spirit vines invading large quantities of the city. Go figure.
prettyinhandcuffs: (too cool for you)

[personal profile] prettyinhandcuffs 2014-10-06 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
Eying the taller woman, Duo frowned. He didn't like the sound of that 'irreversible' bit. "Spirits? Huh, don't have those where I'm from, not real ones. They part of the local religion or something?"
paishodown: (so much better)

[personal profile] paishodown 2014-10-07 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
"Religion?" Asami raised her eyebrow at the word. She'd never even heard it before.

"I don't know what you mean. But you know all the vines that are growing through parts of town? Those are from spirits. We can't even clear them away. They live in there, now, you can see them for yourself."
prettyinhandcuffs: (smile - well dressed and up to something)

[personal profile] prettyinhandcuffs 2014-10-09 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oooh boy, that's going to take some getting used to." What place didn't have a word for religion? "Well, I guess seeing in believing. Anything I need to watch out for around them?"
paishodown: (strange child...)

[personal profile] paishodown 2014-10-10 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"We're still adjusting to it ourselves, to be honest. They aren't harmful, as long as you don't do anything stupid enough to annoy them." Then... you're on your own, as far as Asami was concerned. There have been more than enough stories of people wandering into the wilds without any sense of reverence.
prettyinhandcuffs: (too cool for you)

[personal profile] prettyinhandcuffs 2014-10-12 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
"Mind telling a foreigner what kind of things are probably going to annoy them?" Duo asked. Hey, surviving was what he did. And he knew he'd never been that much of a reverent guy. But if he had to avoid wearing yellow on Tuesdays or something to avoid pissing off a group of mystical whatsits, then he was going to avoid wearing yellow on Tuesdays.
paishodown: (I'm listening)

[personal profile] paishodown 2014-10-14 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
"It's common sense. Don't destroy their homes, don't agitate them. Most of them are more sentient than animals, so keep that in mind." As long as you had half a brain, Asami didn't think you'd have a problem.
prettyinhandcuffs: (smile - Duo)

[personal profile] prettyinhandcuffs 2014-10-15 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
"So you can reason with them, good to know." Sounded like the fae from the stories back home, actually. Duo flashed the woman a grin. "Thanks for the info!"
paishodown: (so much better)

[personal profile] paishodown 2014-10-15 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Some of them. Just... don't do anything reckless." Asami pursed her lips. She wasn't responsible for this guy, and she still wasn't over having her tech insulted...

He'd be fine. Maybe.
prettyinhandcuffs: (hey there)

[personal profile] prettyinhandcuffs 2014-10-17 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
"I think you don't know me very well," Duo said with a snort, smirking. He waved it off. "But I've got survival instincts, so no need to worry. So I'll have to come see this show of yours and get a proper look at your engines."
