Welcome to Republic City!

It was a bright and sunny normal day in Republic City. Children were playing, spirits were chirping about, and everything was going along like normal. Well at least that's what everyone seemed to think. That is until so many people seemed to be appearing out of nowhere. For some reason Republic City seemed to be more lively and the crowds bigger.

The spirits have grown restless as if something important was about to change, and to try to fix that change, the spirits with their big long tree like limbs dragged people into the world left and right. Even the vines covering Republic City seemed to help. Although the spirits had the best intentions in mind, some people were more affected by the grab than others. There's talk that people in this city don't even know what this place is. People who have never heard of the words "bender" or "non-bender."

Welcome to Republic City! And to those who already live here: Happy Saturday. Please make yourselves at home and don't mind a little spirit gunk. It's mostly harmless. Go enjoy yourself a classic mover. Maybe you're the athletic type. If that's the case, come watch a few Pro-bending matches or form your own team. Just watch out for any Satomobiles. They can be deadly no matter how pretty the driver is.

Please remember to enjoy your stay and don't cause too much trouble. The Republic City Police don't need more riffraff to take care of. And don't stray too far. To make the the peace is kept, there's a huge spirit barrier around the perimeter of the city. It seems pretty strong, but it won't be able to last forever. Still, it's worrying. Radio signals and telegraphs don't seem to be getting past it.

[ OOC: The game is officially open! From this point on, feel free to make any posts you want or tag into this. Please remember to tag your posts with Canon: Character. Finally, although the game has no real network, you're free to respond with prose or brackets, whatever you're comfortable with. With that said, have fun! ]

"You think so?" Preening slightly as she was terribly apt to do. Nabooru might have been slightly full of herself, but she didn't care one way or the other. "I'd like to think so." As if she'd picked it out for herself- which of course she hadn't.

"Are you from around here?" Finally she sat up all the way, bringing her knees up close to her chest.

Mikazuki sat down.

"I am now," he said cheerfully. "Came from the Fire Nation a few years ago. A charming young man who had outgrown his small village and came to the big city to sing out his youth!"

He laughed, knowing just how silly he sounded hamming it up. Of course, there was a chance she just wanted to know if he lived near the park, but the more dramatic the better, right?

It certainly was enough to get a chuckle out of her. "So, a little fire boy, eh?" It was getting harder and harder to tell who came from where. Everyone in the city had just started blending together after a long while.

"Must have been quite the scenic change." Even she had a hard time adjusting some days. There were more opportunities to do what she was good at, but more people also meant more eyes. And sometimes it just felt like the city could swallow you whole.

"You bet it was." In his home village, he was the younger brother of a firebending prodigy, the problem kid in a respected family. Life in the city was by no means easier, but at least here he could be just Mikazuki.

"Back home I had to go looking for things to do. Here the things find me!" He loved it, every bit of it, even the danger and the chaos--especially danger and chaos. There was never a boring moment.

"It's not boring, that's for sure." There was always something going on. A sale or a festival or a party. The park was really one of the only quiet places she knew that wasn't terribly depressing, like the poor quarters.

"And it seems to be less and less so these days." People falling from the sky and what not. All that spirit nonsense. "Things will keep on finding you, I wager."

"I hope so!" He planned to go into the Spirit Wilds anyway, but it would be nice to have some mysterious strangers bump into him before that.

"What about you, big sis? Got any cool stories to tell?"

"I'm sure I do." Being the leader of an all woman tribe of desert dwelling thieves probably lent its hand to all kinds of stories. But Nabooru wasn't sure if she wanted to divulge all of that when it felt like she was in the clear out there. It was hard leaving her roots, though.

"I come from the desert. Vast wide open spaces of nothing. It's very different from here." So different it was hard adjusting.

sorry for the delay!

"Oooh, the desert huh?" Mikazuki sat up straighter. "I've been there actually, before coming here." When he left his hometown, he figured he might as well see the world before settling down.

"I guess it has his perks, but it was too quiet for me."

No worries.

Her eyebrow arched before she could steel the expression. She didn't want to look too interested, and Mikazuki seemed like he was in one piece. Usually anyone that had been attacked in the desert was considerably less so and not fond of it.

"Quiet, eh?" She was glad on his behalf to hear that. It was clear that he probably hadn't seen her tribe and even though a part of her wanted to ask she knew it was better to just let it go. "Long stretches of sandy nothing can get pretty boring, I suppose."

If she mentioned it, Mikazuki would've been very disappointed to have missed it. Lone traveler in the desert, attacked by thieves that take what little he owns and leave him to the mercy of the desert… Mikazuki would consider it a fun afternoon.

Then again, Mikazuki was a little crazy.

"Some of it was beautiful, in a way… I suppose stretches of nothing are good for thinking deep thoughts," he grinned, "but I'm not a great thinker."

"Oh really?" Teasing, sort of. She certainly didn't intend it to be fully insulting. "Well you said it, not me." Allowing herself a little chuckle. He was a good boy for a laugh, at the very least.

"That must mean the city keeps you preoccupied enough not to have to trouble your brain." Almost adding in the word 'little' but thinking better of it. There was no reason to be mean, after all.

[personal profile] crowover 2014-10-20 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
He would so not be offended if she added 'little'. In fact, he would insist on 'pretty little brain' just to hear something so wonderfully cheesy.

"Yep, you got it! I'm a man of action, never sit still." A mischievous grin. "Except when I talk to pretty ladies at the park."

"Aw." It was more of a simple noise than an actual word, but steeped in amusement. Clearly she was a woman who was used to compliments, but they never got old. She was never really tired of being told nice things about herself. "Well aren't you sweet." And there in the beginning she'd thought they were really going to get off on the wrong foot.

"Well this pretty lady would hate to keep you from being up and about." That and she was just about ready to do the other side she'd put off when he first approached.

"Haha, of course." He got to his feet and wiped some grass off his clothes. "It was nice meeting you, big sis! I'm sure I'll see you around!"

He grinned, waved her goodbye and set off to his merry way. It was quite fun, talking to her. A pleasantly unexpected break.
