[Open] Just a day in the Avatar life

Option A. Spirit Wilds (OPEN)

With the press catching on that she was "recovered" and around again, it was only a matter of time before they started trying to hound her for more information. And only a matter of time before Korra realized the Spirit Wilds were a perfect place for her to get some peace and quiet from them. The people in the city were still wary of the vines and tended to stay away. The spirits were a different matter, of course. The vines were their home, and Korra occasionally saw them watching her curiously as she passed.

There was one that was particularly persistent. She swore she saw those leafy ears disappearing behind some vines at least four times in the past half hour. What the heck was it doing?

When Korra heard some rustling behind her only a few minutes later, she stopped and said, "If you're going to follow me, you could at least quit it with the hiding act."

Except it wasn't the spirit at all when she turned around. "Oh, sorry! I thought you were...someone else."

Option B. Around Air Temple Island (OPEN)

Though Korra had trained all her life, there were still new things to be learned about bending all the time. After seeing a few air new air benders practicing the day before, Korra had the bright idea to do the same, with one of the more...interesting training moves. The tip of her tongue stuck out as she concentrated on balancing with one foot on the narrow pole, her hand raised and keeping a leaf dancing above her palm with a gentle air spiral. She stayed aloft for a few minutes, thinking how it wasn't as bad as she thought it might be...

Of course, her balance only lasted until a lemur, without a certain young air bender to latch onto, leapt onto her head and sent her tumbling to the ground with a yelp.

"Pokey, get back here! Ugh." Korra watched him fly off with a scowl as she rubbed at her head. Hopefully, no one had been around to see that...

Option C. Closed to Lord Zuko

Lord Zuko's presence in the city was a great relief to Korra, especially with Raiko, Lin, and Tenzin all missing. Now that a few weeks had passed, with still no news or developments, she thought it was high time she and Lord Zuko had another talk.

Following his directions to his home in Republic City, she loitered outside the door, twisting the material of her shirt between her fingers. This is stupid, she thought after a few minutes. Breathing in, she forced herself to raise her hand and knock on the door firmly.

Falling off was no big deal. Being seen by Aang, of all people, while she failed in air bending definitely was a big deal. Worst training session ever.

Korra dusted herself off and took his hand. "I'm fine. My ego's just a little bruised, that's all," she said with a sigh. "Were you watching the whole time?"

He pulled her up with as much strength as the vegetarian could muster. "Egos are silly like that. Like... bananas? I don't know if I saw the whole thing, but when I started watching you were doing really good with a leaf."

Korra helped him out a little by pushing herself off the ground with her free hand. She was way taller than Aang was, anyway.

“You really think so?” She asked, trying not to look to eager to hear Aang’s thought on her air bending.

Wow way to rub it in. Wait until he gets his growth squirt, pip squeak.

Aang makes a thoughtful face and then nods. "Yep! I didn't get to look for long, but it looked like you had good form! You must have been practicing a lot."

It was more breathaking than he could say to see a new Avatar airbending.

"Just a little," Korra said, trying and failing not to look pleased. "I saw some of the new air benders doing this, so I thought I'd give it a shot. Tenzin never taught me this exercise when we were still going over air bending."

Korra's smile turned a little wistful as she thought about her mentor. "Probably because I was a terrible student for the longest time."

"Hey, I'm sure you were doing your best," he tries to say with a reassuring smile. "We all have our elements that're tricky for us. He must've just been saving it for the right time!"

"Yours was fire, right?" Korra asks with some curiosity.

She'd heard as much from the stories, but it would be really different hearing it from Aang himself.

"It was. ...But actually, earth was even harder. The first time I tried fire, it worked. It worked well enough that I was too afraid to use it. It wasn't until me and Zuko learned the true meaning of firebending from the dragons that I felt comfortable to really practice it again."

“Wait…” Korra stops and stares at him. Forget the earthbending part for now, the second part is what she’s interested in.

“You learned firebending from the dragons?” It looks like Katara left out a few things when she shared stories with Korra.

"A little!" He sheepishly shrugs. "The dragons showed me and Zuko the true meaning of firebending. And once we had that, Zuko was able to start properly teaching me!"

"So what is the true meaning of firebending?" Korra leans in, all curious.

This is the first time she's ever heard of this, don't mind her enthusiasm.

Aang does some leaning on his part, to confide in her a secret that was revealed decades ago.

"Well, you see, the Fire Nation used to think that firebending was all about destruction, and... you know, things that aren't really good! But the true secret is that firebending's actually about energy... about life. Like the Sun itself. It doesn't have to be destruction."
