The White Swanfish Gala (Open to All, including party-crashers)
The White Swanfish Gala is this evening - A VIP-only event where invitations are only sent to the likes of the heads of industry, Mover stars, avatars, and their guests. The host is Wil Zan (Slade's affable civilian alter ego), and he is dressed in a fine white and blue silk nehru, smiling broadly and chatting with what seems like every patron there, one at a time. He has brought in the finest chefs to provide an unlimited stream of fine food and drink, popular musicians provide entertainment and lively music to dance to, and this gala is sure to be an event worth talking about for years.
Interestingly, Zan has set up some rather unusual security measures. Though your average riff-raff will be kept out, he has intentionally left strategic security gaps that can be bypassed by the bold and the cunning. Zan actually has men covertly watching these gaps, but instead of stopping these party-crashers, their instructions are to inform Zan. (This serves as a sort of test for potential apprentices that Slade may try to recruit in the future.)
((NOTE: This is an event log, so not every reply has to be toward Slade. Feel free to write what your character is doing at the party or how they snuck in, etc. "Zan" is likely to give you his attention, but others can too.))

[Although wow rude what's wrong with rich people who have great clothes?]

[Wan wasn't sure if he should give her full name or not and turned to look around for her. Finding her near the bar, he pointed over.]
She's the woman in the shortest dress here tonight.
[And she filled it out quite well, too. All things considered. But it was the shortest dress in the place. The next longest was about four inches longer and the rest of the ladies tended to fancy ankle length gowns.]

[wow. Wan. New respect for you, bro. Very nice.]
She visited me on my yacht the other day. A very... Friendly young lady.
no subject
[Wan agreed. He hadn't realized she would know anyone at the party. She hadn't talked like she would.]
Does she visit your yacht often? She didn't mention knowing you.
[Yay! A conversation he could sort of be less nervous about having.]
no subject
[So much respect for you now, Wan. Seriously. Get it bro.]
So are you two... Dating?
no subject
Uh... Well, I'm her date tonight so... maybe?
[Spirits. Were they dating now? Did that qualify as dating? He didn't know!]
no subject
[He's not waiting for a reply to that.]
A gorgeous dame like that, got all the men clammering over her. She's waiting for you to make a move before the rest of these chumps do.
no subject
[She had only invited him so she wouldn't stand out by being dateless. She wasn't actually waiting for him to make any kind of moves.
But he couldn't tell Varrick that. It would blow the cover.]
I... I'm not sure... how?
no subject
How much 'not sure how' are we talking here, pal?
[Well Wan, when two people love each other very much...]
no subject
I'm not completely ignorant. I just mean... she's the one that invited me. I don't want her to think... you know...
[Fill in the blanks for him Varrick. You have the imagination to do it and Wan is terrible at making up stupid romantic stuff.]

I knew you'd understand. I just don't know how to get her to uh... realize she should... take me out again? You know, without making it look like I'm uh... just in it because of where she takes me.
[That seemed reasonable.]

You really think so?

[the problem about being at a party with an open bar is that he can't offer to buy anyone a drink. More the pity.]

[Wan had started looking down at his feet, his shoulders hunching a bit. He was being told he was an attractive man by another man and it was very surreal and strange to be told that at all in the first place.]
I mean... I don't exactly have anything to offer. I don't think I can be a catch.
no subject
Come on, pal. An attitude like that's not gonna get you anywhere. You 100% have a chance with this girl. Believe in yourself a little for once!

[
You know, Wan, you could solve some of that problem by branching out a little nudge nudge wink winkno subject
[Help him Varrick, you're his only hope. For a love life.]
no subject
[They're talking about Wan's love life that means they're friends now right he's going for the arm around his shoulders either way.]
You're in Republic City now, pal! This place is BURSTING with fish in the sea, lemme tell you.
no subject
Sampling? I don't think I can sample women?
no subject
If you're more the settling down type, that's certainly doable as well.
no subject
[Wan let out a defeated sigh and hung his head.]
This is my first date. Ever.
no subject
So you're nervous. That's understandable. But believe me, pal, you got nothing to worry about. You're good lookin guy, I can already tell you're gonna charm the pants off anyone. The dates thing gets way WAY easier after the first one's out of the way , believe me.
