The White Swanfish Gala (Open to All, including party-crashers)

The White Swanfish Gala is this evening - A VIP-only event where invitations are only sent to the likes of the heads of industry, Mover stars, avatars, and their guests. The host is Wil Zan (Slade's affable civilian alter ego), and he is dressed in a fine white and blue silk nehru, smiling broadly and chatting with what seems like every patron there, one at a time. He has brought in the finest chefs to provide an unlimited stream of fine food and drink, popular musicians provide entertainment and lively music to dance to, and this gala is sure to be an event worth talking about for years.

Interestingly, Zan has set up some rather unusual security measures. Though your average riff-raff will be kept out, he has intentionally left strategic security gaps that can be bypassed by the bold and the cunning. Zan actually has men covertly watching these gaps, but instead of stopping these party-crashers, their instructions are to inform Zan. (This serves as a sort of test for potential apprentices that Slade may try to recruit in the future.)

((NOTE: This is an event log, so not every reply has to be toward Slade. Feel free to write what your character is doing at the party or how they snuck in, etc. "Zan" is likely to give you his attention, but others can too.))

Zan looks up at nothing for a moment in thought, then turns his gave back upon Ty Lee.

"Perhaps... what is your name, young lady?"

[backbends]

[ Here it goes. She's almost positive she's going to give her name and it'll be oh you're sisters with so and so, you look just like her. It always ended up that way, it's why she followed her dreams to join the circus. She wanted to be her own person, not just a matched set.

Rather than letting her insecurity shows, she flashes a smile. ] I'm Ty Lee.

[Zan's eyebrow raises at that. He had already met and interrogated a young version of Firelord Zuko. Is this the Ty Lee, brought here by the same mysterious phenomenon?]

Child, are you... one of Republic City's new arrivals?

[backbends]

[ That was it? What a relief! She shakes her head in response. ]

No, I was brought here by the vines!

[So, it is the Ty Lee. Her talents could very useful to Slade's plans, if she could be manipulated into aiding him. First, he'd try winning her over to "Zan"'s side by playing up the kindly gentleman act. He crouches down a bit to look her in the eye and seem less intimidating.]

Yes, as I thought. You are from the past, like the others. It must be a very confusing time for you, my dear. Do you mind telling me the last thing you remember?

[backbends]

Oh, not at all! I rather like it here, I don't mind staying if I have to. [ Sure, she misses her friends a little, but at least she had Zuko around and she was going to be famous all thanks to Varrick. What more could I girl hope for?

She didn't know what could it will tell this guy the last thing she remembered, but she shrugs it off and answers regardless. ] Well, me and my friends were all at Ember Island on vacation at the beach! We were invited to this party-- Not nearly as nice as this one-- and all got into a big fight after we got kicked out, but the beach totally healed us!

[Zan listens intently, nodding as she speaks.]

And did any of these friends come with you to Republic City?

[backbends]

[ She shakes her head in response. ] Well, not exactly. One friend is here, but he didn't come with me.

Sorry for the game of 20 questions. Trying to not have him jump to conclusions

[Zan nods again.]

Well, it's good there's at least one familiar face here for you. What's their name? Maybe it's one of the... "visitors" I've met already.

Oh, you probably already at least know of him. He is-- or, at least he was Fire Lord. I'm not sure if he still is.

[ She's not really sure where all this stands considering she's really just going off of what Zuko had told her. But she knows with their being in the future that there was little doubt that Zuko's name would have been well known. Especially considering when in girls school they were expected to know the names of all the previous Fire Lords. ]

Finally down to business

[Zan grins a bit as he confirms who she is. He does his best to keep the smile from looking creepy.]

So, you are that Ty Lee. It is an honor to meet you.

[backbends]

[ She tilts her head to the side in confusion, but is quick to straighten back up and smile again. ] I had no idea I was so well known! It's a pleasure to meet you as well...

[ Trailing off, she realized he didn't give his name. ]

[Zan offers his hand.]

How rude of me. I am Wil Zan, and this is my estate.

[He makes a sweeping gesture with his hand indicating that he is talking about the large mansion the party is in. He then points to a wall with portraits of him on it, specifically at an old photograph of a younger him (in his late 20's) wearing a gi. He is posed in a swooping dragon stance.]

I was something of a martial arts enthusiast in my younger years, and studied your chi-blocking techniques extensively. Never quite mastered it to your level, though.
