Unrest
A medium-sized group of people have decided to take matters into their own hands. In the middle of the night, they split apart and casually make their way through different parts of the city. And then suddenly, all across the city, homes and apartments catch fire; some buildings, specifically businesses, collapse due to suddenly unstable ground; other areas near water are completely flooded.
It's not long before most, if not all of the suspects are apprehended, but quite a bit of damage has been done. Boroughs 3, 4 and 5 were hit the hardest for what seems to be due to the fact most of the refugees live in those areas. Some parts of the Spirit Wilds also have some damage, but the spirits were quick to chase away the vandals from their home.
For anyone awake at this late hour, word is quickly spreading and the blame is being squarely placed on the shoulders of the refugees. At least, that's why the the vandals claim to have done it. They're taking all the resources...! That... the group just destroyed. Apparently if they can't have them, neither can the refugees. Most of the members of the group seem to be members of the Triads. Apparently they felt the need to be "heroic."
For those not awake, well, they probably will wake up soon. The earth begins to rumble and shake violently all throughout Republic City, much too strong for even a large group of earthbenders. A few more buildings fall victim to damages from debris.
The shaking stops after a solid three minutes or so, but throughout the night, strong aftershocks will shake the city. What's of interest is what happened during the earthquake. On Air Temple Island, a bunch of spiritual energy has gathered. The result of the gathered spirits is a ball of energy that fiercely glows a red color. Sparks of red leap away from the gathered energy and apparently draw in quite the impressive strike of lightning! Hopefully the airbenders won't mind a giant red glowing thing of doom right where the symbol for Tui and La used to be.
Someone could investigate. It's dark and the glow from the ball of energy can be seen for a few miles, although as time goes on the glow will subside a bit, but not completely.
[ Tags from this account will probably come tomorrow. We'll comment back about the red thing of doom, but otherwise let us know if you want us for stuff. Otherwise, feel free to NPC some things. Catch a runaway or two, etc. ]

Another muttered name caught Dove's attention, and her eyes widened inexplicably wider as she stared down at the young firelord. "A-Avatar Aang...?" she wondered aloud, before shaking it off and squeezing his hand again.
"Lord Zuko...got it." A deep breath. "You're going to be okay. Just hold on."
When Maomi returned with Bolin, relief coursed through her, and she motioned him over. "Bolin!"

And his legs were going numb.

yet. But he runs along, at least a length or two behind the tigerdillo. Pabu is still... not super happy, but at this point it's now because of the general fire and rubble that are everywhere in the city; at least he's curled away and tucked safely inside Bolin's shirt, which definitely makes Bolin look... kind of funny, as if he were wearing a fat suit."Dove?" Of course it's dove; where else would you find a (mostly?) tame tigerdillo in the city. "What's going o—oooooooooh." It doesn't take long for him to see someone underneath the rubble. The bad lighting doesn't reveal his identity right away, and that's probably for the best.
"Okay, I've got this."
no subject
She stayed close, but not too terribly close, and nodded, waiting for Bolin to move the rubble so she could assist Zuko once it had cleared. Maomi stayed nearby, her eyes flicking to the bulge in the earthbender's shirt every so often with interest.

...
And then they might hear the loud flapping of wings above them. One of the spirits having summoned a friend who came streaking down from the sky. In the form of a huge red dragon. Druk hovered over the area before landing nearby with a thud and a gust of wind from his wings.

"Okay, I think I've got this. Dove, you pull him out just in case something else starts sliding down. Alright?"
He waits only a moment for her reply before he assumes a low stance, takes in a deep breath, and then digs into the earth below. He lifts up his arms, though it looks like he's pulling up an invisible weight as there's a clear resistance. When he does so, a good dozen of the rocks atop him start to raise up a little bit, though with the sheer weight of it, they don't raise all that much.

She was, unfortunately, COMPLETELY thrown off when Lord Zuko's dragon appeared above them and landed not too far away, and for a moment could only stare as she put the pieces together. Yeah... That made sense. Yes, dragon, good.
Maomi tensed hugely, golden eyes turning from their lock on Bolin's shirt--or more specifically Pabu-- to the giant flying beast instead.
When the rocks shifted, though, the woman's focus went back to the young firelord, and as soon as the rocks were lifted, she went into action, nimbly lowering herself to the hurt young man and doing her best to pull him out. It was difficult, but she would give as much effort as she could, all the while careful not to hurt him any further.

"Agh, my leg is stuck!"
And it felt like it was broken too.
Druk calmly walked over, and looked over the situation. Then lowering his massive head, he placed his snout underneath the debris that Bolin was lifting. The dragon attempting to help the earthbender lift it further. The reason for Zuko's stuck leg though, was a metal beam.
no subject
"Ungh, metal... why does it have to be metal?" he says with a sad lament, as he staggers with the weight of the rocks. "Okay, time for Plan B." He hadn't expected a dragon to come help, and if he weren't busy lifting an entire pile of rocks he might have recognized said dragon. However, for now he's a little preoccupied.
Bolin turns a little bit to make sure the coast is clear behind him, and one by one he starts throwing the rocks on top of the pile he's lifted off to the side, lightening his load. He might not have been able to do it safe that Druk is helping him manage the load. At one point, a few of the other pieces of rubble start to topple, but Bolin catches those too and puts those into the small heap of rock to the side before finally finishing it.
"Welp, we're going to have to do this thing the manual way. Unless one of you two happen to be metalbenders." Nonetheless he goes to the beam and sees if he can even lift it at all...

The metal beam proved to be a bigger problem. Turning from it to Zuko again, she looked him over, taking inventory as Bolin joined them, and answered his question without taking her eyes off the boy. "Firebenders," she told him apologetically, looking now down the length of the beam and hoping Bolin wouldn't freak out when he realized who the trapped boy was. "I could try to cut through it though to make it smaller..." she offered, though she wasn't too sure if she would even be able...

Once Bolin had moved all the debris though, and the metal beam was exposed, Druk lifted his head and looked at the humans then back at the beam that pinned his younger companion down. With a low growl he moved forward, careful not to step on any of them. He then bent down, and clamped his mouth around the beam. The dragon then began to lift it off of Zuko, moving some more debris in the process which hopefully Bolin could handle.
Once the beam was clear, Druk reared his head and tossed it to the side where it landed with a loud crash.
stupid thing didn't notify me. bleh
When Zuko is finally free, Bolin finally takes a proper assessment of the situation.
...
There's a five-ton dragon here. One that he also recognizes.
And the person that was trapped beneath the beam has a rather characteristic scare on his face. Again, one that he also recognizes.
Bolin practically does double takes between BOTH of these sights before slapping his hands against his cheeks.
"Lord Zuko!?!?"
Re: stupid thing didn't notify me. bleh
When it seemed clear to approach, the young woman immediately went back to Zuko's side to asses the situation and help him onto safer ground away from the dust and rubble...if he could move at all.
no subject
"Thank you," he told them all softly. Certainly glad and appreciative that they had even found him.
Though Zuko paused and blinked up at the earthbender that had saved him, when he apparently recognized who he was.
"Uh... yes?"
Druk just looked on patiently, following wherever they moved his young friend.
no subject
But then he realizes that Zuko is still weak on his... foot and that his other foot is obviously broken. "Well, hold that thought, I guess. I can get you to the hospital fast. Just stand next to me, and try to keep your balance, alright?" After all, if this is indeed Lord Zuko, well, that was an important thing to do, right? Besides, would her tigerdillo even let him leave right this moment. "And Pabu, you just stay tucked in there, okay." The fire ferret gives out a brief noise before his apparent stomach rustles slightly.
Once they've done that, Bolin broadens his stance, lowers his hands, and then pulls upward, pulling a solid block of earth up out of the street. And then with a gentle shove, the block begins to move along the earth behind him en route to the hospital.
