A: Outside Lower Class Apartments
[ Despite her upbringing as a nobleman's daughter and her status of "best friend" to the Fire Nation's princess, there was a lot that Ty Lee did not learn growing up. She could recite all the former Fire Lords, knew what utensils to use at a former dinner and more than knew how to handle herself in a fight. But one thing Ty Lee never did learn was the real concept of money.
All her life Ty Lee had gotten everything she had needed for survival. Either her father paid for things or Azula intimidated them out of people. Even a part of the traveling circus she didn't really need to worry about room and board. Republic City on the other hand, was an entirely different mater.
While Ty Lee had no problem flirting with the locals boys for food and other necessities, this was one situation she couldn't flirt her way out of. Ty Lee had been unfortunate enough that her landlord was one entirely against newcomers getting a "free break", so when the teenager came up empty with rent for the month they had graciously shown her the door.
Ty Lee had been about to protest when her few bags of things were unceremoniously thrown out onto the street, the latch opening as it hit the ground and clothing spilling out into the dirty street. The teenager pouted. ] Fine, I didn't want to live in this dirty place anyway!
[ With a huff, Ty Lee shoved her clothing back into the bags and could be found the rest of the day carting around her bags and looking for a new place to live. ]
B: Street Performing
[ If Ty Lee was going to find a new place to live and start paying rent, she was going to need money to do it. While Varrick had offered her a spot in his movers, it wasn't getting her the money she needed now. It was only natural that Ty Lee chose to do something she was good at-- Performing!
Although, it was only street performing, Ty Lee quickly learned she could get a crowd and a decent amount of yuan with her special skill set. She can be found on various streets through the week, even going as far as to paint her face with white and pink make up for lack of a proper circus costume. ]
C: Yoga in the park
[ A girl had to keep her aura pink somehow, especially when she had the additional stress of actively trying to make money and find a place to live. Ty Lee can be found in the park every day at sun-up and shortly before sun-down doing sun salutations as well as more advanced moves to remove any negativity her body harbors. ]

I'm... actually not a firebender, but I am from the Fire Nation! I'm just, uh, well, that whole thing that happened with the avatar and all... I'm actually an airbender!
no subject
[ She giggles, realizing just how silly that found. ] I've never met an air bender that wasn't the Avatar before! I thought they were all... you know.
[ Ty Lee just couldn't bring herself to say that the Fire Nation actually exterminated the Air Nomads, but it was well known history enough that she hoped the other girl caught her drift. ]

[Oh, Fire Nation. Your history.
LET'S MOVE ON. Ruby's ruffling the hair on back of her head nervously, still smiling.]
It took me by surprise, I'll tell you that much. Fifteen years as a non-bender, and now... [Well, she's making a little whirlwind in her hands, that's for sure!]

What she hadn't known was the whole air bender thing. Actually, she knew very little about the current Avatar and her involvement in... anything, really. All she knew is that she was friends with the guy she met a few weeks ago and that a lot of people didn't really like her for some reason. ]
You suddenly became an airbender? Just like that? [ She blinks once... twice... No, still not getting it. ] But you're Fire Nation, right?
no subject
[She sighs, shrugging.] I heard rumors that it was something the avatar had caused!

[ Ty Lee knew there was another Avatar. She didn't know much about her though so it was easy to forget about her. ]
It's okay, I'm from the Fire Nation and I'm from an entire family of non-benders. [ She holds her hands out really wide to indicate just how large her family was... ] I'm not even sure what I'd do if I suddenly became a bender... but it must be pretty cool!
