A: Outside Lower Class Apartments

[ Despite her upbringing as a nobleman's daughter and her status of "best friend" to the Fire Nation's princess, there was a lot that Ty Lee did not learn growing up. She could recite all the former Fire Lords, knew what utensils to use at a former dinner and more than knew how to handle herself in a fight. But one thing Ty Lee never did learn was the real concept of money.

All her life Ty Lee had gotten everything she had needed for survival. Either her father paid for things or Azula intimidated them out of people. Even a part of the traveling circus she didn't really need to worry about room and board. Republic City on the other hand, was an entirely different mater.

While Ty Lee had no problem flirting with the locals boys for food and other necessities, this was one situation she couldn't flirt her way out of. Ty Lee had been unfortunate enough that her landlord was one entirely against newcomers getting a "free break", so when the teenager came up empty with rent for the month they had graciously shown her the door.

Ty Lee had been about to protest when her few bags of things were unceremoniously thrown out onto the street, the latch opening as it hit the ground and clothing spilling out into the dirty street. The teenager pouted. ] Fine, I didn't want to live in this dirty place anyway!

[ With a huff, Ty Lee shoved her clothing back into the bags and could be found the rest of the day carting around her bags and looking for a new place to live. ]


B: Street Performing

[ If Ty Lee was going to find a new place to live and start paying rent, she was going to need money to do it. While Varrick had offered her a spot in his movers, it wasn't getting her the money she needed now. It was only natural that Ty Lee chose to do something she was good at-- Performing!

Although, it was only street performing, Ty Lee quickly learned she could get a crowd and a decent amount of yuan with her special skill set. She can be found on various streets through the week, even going as far as to paint her face with white and pink make up for lack of a proper circus costume. ]

C: Yoga in the park

[ A girl had to keep her aura pink somehow, especially when she had the additional stress of actively trying to make money and find a place to live. Ty Lee can be found in the park every day at sun-up and shortly before sun-down doing sun salutations as well as more advanced moves to remove any negativity her body harbors. ]

[This one's playing around with her glider in the park on her way home, lifting herself in small bursts of air before gliding gently to the ground. When she lands, she tries to retract her staff quickly, sending little whirlwinds as quickly and as controlled as possible. It seems to be working out just fine! Her airbending training was working pretty well for her, considering how much she tried really hard and oh man what is this lady doing.

Ruby watches her carefully, raising an eyebrow a little...]

Are you an exercise instructor?

[ Though Ty Lee was the kind of girl that loved attention, it came as a little bit of a surprise to be caught mid sun salutation. She had been so caught up in going through the motions that she hadn't even noticed the girl until she approached her.

Though her current pose had her head upside down, she looked around to make sure she was talking to her before responding. ] Me? No, not at all! I just like to come here to practice. It's the perfect place to release negativity if you ask me!

[ Without so much as a second thought, she moved into the next pose. ]

[Ruby's tilting her head at this... whatever she was doing. It looked like bending but not? Hmm.]

But... how does all that release negativity? [Ruby, do the air nomads teach you nothing?]

It's easy, really! It's almost like meditating, only better if you ask me. [ Not that Ty Lee had a problem with actual meditating, just sitting in one position for a long time and reflecting wasn't really her thing. ]

You breath properly and focus. [ She demonstrated as she moved into the next pose, closing her eyes and focusing on the movement of her body. ] It does great things for your body and your chi!

[Aang was wandering through the streets today with a hat on his head and a Momo on his shoulder, when his eye is caught by the crowd gathering. He manages to make his way to the front of the crowd to see her in the middle of her performance. He quickly claps his hands in applause! Even if he doesn't yet recognize that it's Ty Lee.]

Thank you, thank you. [ She graciously curtsied to the crowd and made a sweeping motion towards the hat sitting close to her self-proclaimed performance space. ] If you enjoyed what you've seen, please be kind and leave a donation!

[ As the little crowd thins out, she comes out of her curtsy and her eyes immediately land on Aang. She waves and giggles. ] I see you found another neat hat! This one really suits you.

[He finally recognizes her when she speaks, and he gives his own little wave, while his other hand grips at his hat for a moment self-consciously.]

Thanks! I'm glad you like it. How've you been, Ty Lee? [It's nice to see her still around. He was saddened recently by Sokka having gone missing.]

You should really consider going without one though, you don't need to be in disguise here! I bet everyone knows who you are and adores you-- I mean, you are The Avatar, right? [ Though he didn't state it, it was clear that was what he was after considering she had now run into him twice with the hat. It's a lot like back home, when he tried to disguise himself or throw herself and the other dangerous ladies of his scent.

Most of all, Ty Lee couldn't understand why someone famous would want to hide who they were. If it were her, she'd flaunt herself in public at every chance she could get. ]

I wish I could say good, but I'm not really out here for fun-- Not that performing isn't fun! It's totally my lifelong dream, but can you believe I got kicked out of my apartment! All because I couldn't pay rent! [ It was really too fresh not to be a sore spot at this point, even more when she had to work harder than she ever really had in her life just to get a few yuan in a tin cup a day. ]

[ He only comes across Ty Lee when she's just about finished repacking her bags. Considering the location, he has a feeling he knows what happened and so, when he jogs on over to her, his face is sympathetic. ]

Are you okay?

[backbends]

[ Ty Lee wasn't aware she had an audience, and quite frankly she was a little embarrassed that a scene was made. Rather than showing her feelings, she just smiled polity. ]

I'm okay, but I can't say the same for my favorite dress here. [ She bends down to pick up the skirt of the dress she had arrived in the city. It had been the one she had worn to The Beach party and it was special her. Only now it was covered in dirt and who knows what else that causes Ty Lee to make a face. ]

It's not so bad.... I'm sure after a good washing it'll be good as new.

[ If there was something Jin knew, it was that when you saw a crowd of people appearing, whatever it was that they found was usually pretty amazing. Jin didn't have anything else to do, so she found herself following the crowd and peeking through to see what was happening.

It was Ty Lee! She quickly squeezed her way to the front gave her a big loud whistle in excitement. ]

[ As always, Ty Lee responded best to a crowd and flashed a smile at the loudest one in the crowd. Imagine her surprise when she realized it was a familiar face. As soon as the crowd thinned out, she landed a surprise hug-attack on her. ]

Jin! I'm so happy to see you!

[ Jin let out a loud scream in surprise that slowly dissolved into laughter when she realized what had happened. ]

Ty Lee! You were amazing!

[After watching one of Ty Lee's displays, a young man half-grins and tosses a few coins into her collection pot. It's not generous, but not entirely stingy.]

Not bad for a non-bender, little lady.

[backbends]

Thanks. [ She flashes a smile at him, after all it was only the polite thing to do when he was gracious enough to donate at all. ]

Who said I wasn't a bender? [ Grinning, she leans back into a beckbend and takes two steps on her hands before she swings her legs completely over her body and comes out on her feet again. ] You don't have to bend the elements to know how to bend!

[Yuri just happened to be witness to the whole thing when Ty Lee's things were thrown into the street.]

HEY!

[He shouted at the man, who just glared at him and slammed the door. Tch. Yuri scowled but then stepped over to help the poor girl, putting on a friendly smile.]

Need a hand?

[backbends]

[ Looks like Ty Lee had a very unexpected rescuer. Really, she could handle herself so having someone suddenly come to her defense caught her off guard. Though she was upset from having just a place to stay, she managed to swallow her pride and smile politely in return. ]

You don't need to do that... [ But on second thought, her clothes were strewn all over the street and a second set of hands would be really helpful. ] I mean, as long as it's not a bother.

[wolfstrike]

Don't worry about it.

[Yuri says this as he bends down and starts to pick up the clothes, a smile still on his face.]

Rough day, huh?

[He can relate, and knows what its like to be on the street and not really have any place of your own.]

[ Just before sundown Jinora heads through the park, and although she's one her way home she can't help but stop and watch Ty Lee's stretches. At first, she looks around as if for other people- usually there was a group of people or a class doing exercises in the park, but this person seemed to be there by themselves. ]

What are you doing? [ She asks, without much thought into whether she's interrupting. ]

[backbends]

[ Interruption or not, Ty Lee doesn't really seem to mind. She lifts her head from the current pose enough to get a look at the other girl. ]

Surya namaskara! [ With a flash of a smile, she moves into the next pose as if the girl knew what she was talking about. ]

[ Jinora tilts her head, trying to follow along with the poses. ]

I've... never heard of that. It's a kind of exercise?

[The best thing for someone new to the city to do, in Jaune's personal opinion, is to wander around and take in the sights and just get a feel for the city. How else is one supposed to get acquainted with their new home?

Okay, he might not know exactly where he is, but he has a general idea. For example, this is a park. He knows that much.

And hello, what a park it is. Jaune takes notice of the young girl doing the, ah, things she's doing, and stops walking. That is impressive, and not at all painful to watch.]

[ Most young ladies would find themselves rather annoyed to find a young man looking at their posterior during their me time in the park. Ty Lee was not one of the those young ladies. In fact, she rather enjoyed the attention and didn't respond right away as she moved into a pose that would really show him how flexible she was. ]

I know, I get that all the time.

[WOW OKAY. He's being blessed with quite a sight, but it flusters him more than anything else, and he soon finds himself looking away, completely red in the face.]

I'm sure you do! [His voice cracks when he speaks, and he clears his throat.]

That's, uh, quite a talent.
