"I have this. There's not much blank space to write on, but it has pictures." If the spirit is intrigued by books, maybe photos will fascinate it, too?

"It might be just enough." Accepting the slip of paper, she plants it flat against the wall and roots around in her pocket before coming up with a pen. The spirit seems to take notice and perks up, peering over the edge curiously as she gets to work in the small space of the margin. Finally, after a few moments, she holds it up, now with the added drawing of the little spirit.
"Here. You like drawings, right? If you give me my book back I'll draw a real one for you to keep." The spirit perks up again, looking wide-eyed as if amazed at the simple doodle of itself... and seems to quite eagerly accept the offer.
... Because, despite Blake's sudden protest, the stupid little thing is picking the book up and tossing it down toward the two humans.

"Thank you for returning this," he says to the spirit. Even if it was stolen to begin with, spirits operate on their own logic, so there isn't much point reprimanding it. Then he turns to Blake, handing the book to her. "Here. It isn't damaged."
Sorry for the slow
One might stand out in particular. A detailed drawing of a tall man in a long coat, masked and carrying a sword....
Blake quickly takes the book back once it's returned to her and hurriedly shuts it again, blocking out the drawing, and holds it tight. Despite Zuko's assurance, she checks the book over herself before breathing a small sigh of relief and casting one last baleful glance at the spirit... which just seems excited about getting its own portrait.
"... Thank you for your help." She says to Lord Zuko, still not quite believing this conversation is even happening. "I don't think I would have thought of trying to trade for it on my own."
no worries!
"You're welcome," he says, smiling warmly. "Sometimes solving problems becomes easier if you can see things from the perspective of the other person. ... Or spirit, as the case may be."
