[OPEN] Let the races begin

January 10th is a big day for anyone interested in the races. Or rather, interested in a little bit of gambling. Located in the Southern Water Tribe, the penguin sledding races are the place to make it big or lose everything! Races will be held from dawn until midnight with stalls selling food and souvenirs are set up around the event area. Everyone is free to take place in as many races as they want on one condition — they have to catch their own otter penguin, which might be a bigger challenge than actually sledding through the race track. They take this rule very seriously! Those who hire others to catch their otter penguins for them will be disqualified if they're caught. Just remember that this is the South Pole. The event area isn't around any residential areas, so bring warm gear when you hike to it in the cold.

There's fun in Republic City, too. It's snowing, at least, so a few otter penguins have been shipped in for racing around a smaller track. There's stalls set up in the city, too, selling knickknacks and Water Tribe cuisine. People are free to place their bets here as well, but any penguin sledder who's anybody is probably already in the Southern Water Tribe where the big fish are.

So there are options. People who have free time and money to travel can take a ship to the Southern Water Tribe to see what there is to offer. People who are short on time or money can stop by the penguin sledding arena for a few minutes to see what's up.

She smiles and grabs for his hand.

"Well I think your smile outshone my own."

He pulls her up. "That's hard to believe! But it shouldn't matter which smile shines more. Just that they shine at all!"

She smiles more at that and quickly pulls him into a hug.

"no truer words have ever been spoken, Aang."

Aw. He hugs her right back! "Thanks, Jin! I put all my Avatar wisdom into that one."

She giggles a little more and gives him one more squeeze before letting him go.

"This is exactly why I feel you're an amazing Avatar, Aang. You're around my age, but you're still so kind and wise."

"Thank you, Jin. That.... that really means a lot to hear. I'm so wise... because I have lots of great friends who support me and give me good advice. I wouldn't make it without people like you.]

She smiles more and gives him a gentle nudge.

" You're going to make me blush if you keep complimenting me like that, Aang."

"Sorry, Jin. That's a risk I'm gonna have to take, to let you know how great a friend you are!" He chuckles bashfully.

"Just for that, I'm going to cheer you on so hard in the races that you'll be able to hear me like a million miles away and there's nothing you can do to stop me!"

Because obviously that is the best revenge plan ever.

"Wow! That's really fiendishly nice of you, Jin! Thanks! If I win, it'll all be thanks to you!"

" Well me and whichever cute cuddly creature you pick out. I think he or she might play a pretty big part in it too."

"You're right! He or she'll be the most important part! But I know the little otter-penguin'll get stronger from your cheers too!"

"I would be honored to be the one that encouraged both you and your partner."

She laughs more and folds her hands behind her back.

Aang claps his hands together happily. "Well it'll be even more of an honor to be encouraged by you!"

"There's so much honor all around us. I hope we can contain it all!"

"I know! If there's too much, we might have to get my friend Zuko to take all of the extra honor!"

She definitely perked up at the name Zuko. Was that a common name? It could be right? But...

" This friend of yours. What is he like?"

"He's tall, flaming, usually has a grumpy face and he's also got a scar around his eye?"

That can't be a coincidence. She gives him a bigger smile. So aang was friends with her Lee. That meant they certainly had similar taste in kind people.

"Aang, I just realized something."

"You did?" He gives her a curious smile.

" You remember when I told you about my friend Lee who showed up with me?"

She gives him a bigger grin and leans in to whisper. "He actually told me his real name was Zuko. And he sounds an awful lot like your Zuko. "

"No way! ...Does he happen to rule over the Fire Nation too?"

"He does indeed! he's probably there right now. I don't think I've seen much of him in republic city anymore."

"He's definitely the same guy then! He used to chase me around all the time! But you're right, he does spend too much of his time cooped up in that palace of his."
