OPEN.
THAT MORNING.... // Closed to Yang Xiao Long.
[Ah, what a lovely morning! It was a calm and relaxing day, and Yang had a handful of hours before she had to go to work... so, Ruby was taking her time and reading the Republic City Times, hoping that today would be the day she'd finally land herself a job!
After a few minutes of leafing through the paper, however, she felt a sneeze come on. It was going to be fine, she thought to herself, knowing all too well she finally got to the point where she was able to control her airbending enough to know not to send her or any nearby objects flying when she let it go.
But, when she did... she had another problem on her hands. One that was, well, on fire, for one.]
H-WHAT?! [There are flames everywhere! How did she catch her newspaper on fire?!] Oh no! What's going on?! Yang! Oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no!!
[Cue the screaming and flailing and overall panicking.]
----
LATER THAT DAY....
[A. What's this? Little Ruby... actually found herself a job? That's great!
Well, if you like being dressed up in a chickencow suit and dancing around in front of a restaurant in order to hand out flyers.
She sure is working hard for her money. Who knows, if you come at the right time, she might be actually handing out dumpling samples! Most of the time though, she will be doing a variety of various dances in order to grab your attention!]
Hey! Come on down and get our world famous dumplings! The noodles are just divine! [...] Watch me break it down, so you can break your fast~!
[Now she's busting out the big moves. Please stop her before she tries spinning on her head.]
----
EVEN LATER THAT DAY....
[B. Okay, now there's screaming. And flailing. And things are on fire again.]
Aah! I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry! I don't know what's going on!! Why me?!
[This time, it's a huge stack of flyers that she was assigned to hand out. They're all burning and Ruby's trying hard to put them out, but-- wait. No! That'll catch the suit on fire! That suit costs a month's pay!
Help?]
----
COMPLETELY LATER THAT DAY....
[C. Well.
She tried.
It was a valiant effort to make her own money, but Ruby had been sent home for being "hazardous to her working environment" or whatever. She has an hour or two to kill, so she's making her way to the park and flopping down next to the Korra statue, face in her hands, sighing loudly...]
Why is life so hard? I might as well have caused an explosion...
[Oh, no. She's SAD. Cheer the young girl up, maybe?]
----
(ooc. COMPLETELY OPEN. Say hi, take a flyer, make fun of her in the suit, idegaf. Please help this beautiful disaster. She doesn't know why firebending is a thing she is so lost oh my god.
Oh, and even though I have brackets here, if you prefer prose, just reply as that. I will follow suit. :3d)

C.
Blake has absolutely no clue how Ruby managed to set an entire stack of flyers on fire, or how she had partially torched that suit. All she knows was that it had been a hell of a time dealing with her boss afterward, and plenty of apologies had been handed out for the damage caused by the girl she'd brought in. Basically, the whole day had been a headache.
After her shift is over, she changes quickly to her street clothes, and heads out, carrying a small takeout box with her for supper. She's halfway through her shortcut through the park when she catches sight of a familiar red by the statue. Wait....]
... Ruby?
[What is she doing here? Blake had thought for her that she'd have gone home.]
no subject
Blake! Did you get sent home too?!
no subject
[Was that a dig? Nah. She notices Ruby's wide sad eyes though and sighs a bit, moving closer to the statue.]
Have you been sitting out here this whole time?
no subject
[She sighs, ruffling her hair nervously.]
But I'm glad nothing happened to you!
[She wants to hug her out of gratefulness, but she knows Blake is a little weird about that stuff, so she refrains. ]
I'm so, so, so sorry!
no subject
I had to do some apologizing of my own but it isn't the end of the world. [She takes a few steps forward, leaning against the base of the statue beside Ruby. She knows she'd usually want to be left alone after something like that but Ruby is... different, isn't she? After a moment she leans over, as if what she's about to share is some tremendous secret.] To be honest, I think most of us there wish you had finished the job on that costume.
no subject
I just didn't want you to get in trouble over me, that's all.
[But she'll still curl her lips at Blake's afterthought.] I guess it's okay that I burned those udders off, then. They were a little ridiculous...
no subject
[Blake's own faint smile grows a little at Ruby's. She's starting to catch on, the younger girl really is just worried about her, isn't she?]
It's nothing to worry about. My boss might be in a bad mood for a few days but I can handle that
no subject
I hope I can come back... after this all blows over. I can make up for it, I promise!
no subject
Actually, I think it might be a better idea to cut your losses this time.
[Despite what the general feeling about the chickencow outfit may be, the boss loved the stupid thing.]
no subject
[Well, time to look dejected again! Here's the frown and the downcast gaze! And, yes, a sigh.]
no subject
... But I'll see what I can do. You were doing a good job right up until, um, well the end.
no subject
It's just... I don't know why this is happening. I just-- like, okay, you know how I randomly became an airbender? [It sounds so weird admitting this...]
It was like that again, but... with fire!
