This was awkward. It started well, it really did! But now? It was super awkward.

The first friend she makes in this city was probably a negative friend at this point. The only reason she's probably even sticking around at this point was because there was literally no other place to sit at this food shack, and she already got her noodles cold because of SOME PEOPLE. (By which she means tiny, eager airbenders such as herself.)

Really though, this is what she got for trying to make small talk. Protip, she thought to herself, definitely don't try to point out scars on people's faces, even if it was meant to be a compliment. If you thought someone was tough? Just stay quiet! Also, don't say anything about what they should do as a job, either. That probably gives you more negative friend points.

Ruby's looking at Weiss, clearing her throat slowly. She should probably say something. Instead, she's almost staring... but at least she has an apologetic look on her face!]

[ After a day full of roaming, Yang was starving. It was a good thing that her and Ruby had already made arrangements to meet at the noodle place near their new place.

Walking in to the little restaurant, Yang easily located her little sister and made her way over to her. Only, upon a second look it was apparent that she walked into an awkward situation.

Yang hadn't really expected to run into the anti-bending ice princess again after their strange conversation, but there she was speaking with her sister. Something about Ruby's expression said that she hadn't gotten along much better than she had. ]

Uh, hey! [ She waves to Ruby as she approaches, eyes darting between her sister and the other girl. ] What a small world! I had no idea you two knew each other.

[glyphe]

[Weiss had thought she and Ruby were getting along all right, at least before the younger girl brought up the scar. that was a bit of a touchy subject for Weiss. so was healing. and... a lot of other things.

but all in all? the waterbender would have considered the day positive!

.............except that now that girl she'd insulted just a day before was walking closer. and talking to them. oh dear. she stares at Yang, wide-eyed, like a frightened animal, before turning to Ruby]

This is your sister?!

[Oh, great. Lucky for her, Yang was exactly what she needed to break this tension and put a fresh spin on this little interaction of theirs! Yang was better with people as a whole anyway, so why not?

Did... Weiss look surprised, though? Huh.]

Yeah, this is my sister! Half-sister, but sister enough! Heh. Her name is Yang! [She'll smile up at Yang, gestering vaguely over to Weiss.]

Yang, this is Weiss! We met in the noodle line! [:D]

[ Okay, so their first meeting didn't go too well, but Yang was hardly one to dwell on first impressions. So she offers Weiss a toothy smile as she takes a seat next to her sister. ]

Nice to put a name to the face-- [ She grins at Ruby now. ] We met the other day.

[ There wasn't really any use telling her sister that it hadn't gone so well, but she figures Weiss' dog-deer in the headlights like would have given it away enough. She doesn't bother questioning their own conversation either, rather she takes the chop sticks and pops a dumpling in her mouth.

Unlike her little sister, Yang is just politely enough to chew and swallow before speaking again. ] Oh man, good call on picking this place out Ruby. These are good.

[ And now she's snaking a chopstick into Ruby's bowl to steal a noodle. ]

[this is awkward. Weiss nods to Yang when she addresses her, feeling bad about their first conversation. the only reason she'd run off was because she knew she had been in the wrong. but it was easier to flee than to apologize for some reason.

well? perhaps now was the time]

Are you two traveling together, then? [she says as she delicately takes up more noodles. street vendor food was not something she usually ate, but it had changed to her diet once she got here]

She hasn't seen me. But I still am a good bender. [she's confident in that, at least. a brief pause, before eying Yang] ...You really want to fight me?

[Weiss had never gotten the chance to fight against a Firebender before. it sounds thrilling, but also dangerous, so she is hesitant. what if someone got hurt? at the same time, the purpose of fighting was to get stronger. how would she get stronger if she didn't battle with stronger opponents?]

Yeah, why not? [ Her grin only broadens at the idea of going against Weiss. It's the same for Yang. She hadn't really had a chance to go up against other benders yet. While she may have been sisters with an airbender, it wasn't exactly challenging or fair to go up against her.

As for Weiss, well... She already knew she was going to be the kind of challenge to look forward to. ]

[Yang seemed so eager. that energy was just as infectious as Ruby's. they really were sisters. Weiss smiled at that thought and felt a bit more confident. she was drawn to these two silly girls, and she didn't know why]

Fine by me. [she finally says, gathering some noodles in her chopsticks] But I won't go easy on you.

[Ruby is in the middle of slurping the last of her noodle broth when she hears this lighthearted verbal challenge go down. Once Weiss says what she says, she almost chokes on the broth before immediately putting the bowl down.]

Oooooooh... [GIRRLLLL!]

[a small smirk back, though Weiss doesn't respond with words. she's focused on finishing off her meal. and also thinking up a strategy. after all, she has no idea as to how Yang fights. she was a firebender, which had a strong advantage over ice, but less of an advantage over water. and if she was trying out for probending, she must have been pretty athletic. Weiss doesn't believe that either of the girls are all-talk. they feel honest.

once she's done, she rests her chopsticks on her bowl to wait for the sisters politely, trying not to show how nervous and eager she really is]

[ Yang could practically see the calculating wheels turning in her opponent's head, which only fueled her own confidence. She'd seen that look in enough fire benders and martial artists before and during a fight to know what it meant. Yang was sure she had an advantage-- not only was she the kind to fight by the seat of her pants, but she didn't bend fire traditionally. She'd been thrilled to show off her own special brand of moves off in Republic City and the chance came much sooner than she had actually expected.

She stood, stretching with her hands palm up, linked together until her knuckles produces a satisfying crack. ] I better fill up then if we're going to make this happen. I'm going to get some of my own noodles, anyone want anything?

[glyphe]

[winces at the knuckle-cracking. so unladylike!]

Maybe a few dumplings. [for more energy. Weiss pulls out some money from her wallet]

[ Yang holds her hand out palm-out to stop Weiss. ]

Don't worry about it, it's on me. It's the least I can do when I'm about to pummel you. [ She smirks and turns on heal before Weiss even gets a chance to react. ]

[she looks skeptical. it wasn't that Weiss didn't believe in spirits, but]

Lord Zuko? As in, the previous Fire Lord? Is he even still alive? [Weiss knows very little about the Fire Nation okay. at least she knows that Zuko was a driving force behind the reconstruction of it]

[ Yang couldn't help but to laugh. She knew Weiss was Water Nation, but she thought everyone knew about Lord Zuko. ]

Well, yeah. His daughter is Fire Lord now, but he's alive and kicking. The guy I saw though, he looked almost exactly like that statue. Maybe even a little younger-- It's hard to tell, you know, because the actual guy isn't made of stone and all.

[chewing her dumpling as she listens to Yang, not certain she believes her]

It must be a case of mistaken identity. It's not possible for there to be two of the same people alive, is it?

[ Yang shrugs in response. ] I don't know, I'm not really up on this whole spirit world thing, but this guy was too clueless to be an actor.

THE DUEL

[FIGHT!]

[ Now that they were all full off of dumpling and noodles (and allowed themselves at least 15 minutes to settle their stomachs per Ruby's suggestion), Yang stalked into the alleyway.]

Okay, so it's not ideal, but it's better than nothing. [ She grins at Weiss. ] Ready, Ice Princess?

it's time to d-d-d-d-d-d-d...

[an alleyway... Weiss was hoping for some place a bit bigger, like a training area. but if there were no other options, then she would have to deal with it. actually, she was hoping she would be able to defeat Yang quickly enough that the confinements of the area wouldn't even matter.

...Weiss knew that was wishful thinking.

as she was dusting herself off, she heard the Ice Princess comment, and immediately her head snapped up. she did not see that as a compliment, nor did she think she was supposed to. it hit a nerve]

Excuse me? What did you call me?

CATCH THEM ALL????

[ Too easy. The fight hadn't even started and Yang already had the waterbender fired up. This was going to be fun. ]

Did I stutter? [ She smirks. ] So, do you wanna do the whole bowing thing or just do this?

THE AUDIENCE

[Ruby's taking a seat on a barrel, shoving a pastry in her mouth as she looks at the two girls before her beginning to get really into it. This was going to be so exciting! She really hoped that the police didn't think they were actually fighting, like for real! Well, they were fighting for real, but they were just having a friendly duel! And not to the death!

Thank goodness.]

[It really is a big city. She really shouldn't be running into these people at random so much. At any rate, it's hard to overlook that bright yellow hair and... as if that wasn't enough, she also spots that one girl in red she'd run into some time ago. She might not have felt the need to approach, but she also can't help but notice Yang apparently squaring off against another girl in white.

Frowning slightly, she turned and made her way into the alleyway, tossing a worried glance between the two before stopping by the younger girl.]

... What's going on?

[Ruby whips around, a little on edge in spite of her being truly pumped to see the duel.]

Officer, I-- [Oh. It's just Blake.

...IT'S BLAKE!]

Blake! [The young airbender is smiling happily, happy to see her acquaintance again. Can you tell how excited she is?]

My sister is having a duel with a friend of mine! They were talking some good old fashioned smack, and now they're throwing down! But in a good way, not a "I'm going to kill you!" way. They're kind of testing their bending against one another...

[Blake leans back, blinking a little in surprise when Ruby spins around. Officer? What?]

Uh... hi.

[Oh, she can tell, it's written all over Ruby's face and it's a little... unexpected. Blake can't really recall the last time somebody was this happy to see her. Nevermind, someone she'd only met the one time.]

I see.

[So it's a duel then. Blake turns to look at the two benders. Well, at least it wasn't any kind of real fight. Nothing to be concerned about... not... that she was concerned in the first place but--

-- no. Wait a second. She blinks, looks back to Ruby.]
