Granted, he doesn't know them all extremely well—he's not the historian, granted—but everyone in Republic City knows at least some portion of the stories of Aang, Zuko, Sokka, and the rest. After all, he did kind of go total fanboy when he actually met Lord Zuko in the flesh. And of course, Bolin will add a small dose of myth to it, some of which he's heard... and perhaps one or two things he at least wants to believe about them.

I know, right? It kind of makes me wish I had grown up there. I could probably eat Water Tribe food every day. Or at least most of it. Not that Air Nomad food is bad; that's pretty delicious too, all things considered. [What can he say? Bolin just likes food. He's a fan.]
