"I'll have a word with them. If they still won't sell to you after that, I'll look around with you while you pick out what you want. I can hand the money over to them when you're done."
This probably won't be putting her in the shopkeeper's good books (ha) but what they're doing isn't right. Just because these newcomers weren't originally citizens, doesn't mean they should be treated like this.
